AWS FinTech is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to join the team that is shaping the future of the finance data platform. The team is committed to building the next generation big data platform that will be one of the world's largest finance data warehouse to support Amazon's rapidly growing and dynamic businesses, and use it to deliver the BI applications which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision making. Amazon has culture of data-driven decision-making, and demands data that is timely, accurate, and actionable. Our platform serves AWS finance, tax and accounting functions across the globe.

Key job responsibilities

Duties & responsibilities for this role will include:

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate good business acumen, experience in developing reports and conducting analysis, strong communication skills, an ability to work effectively with cross functional teams, and an ability to work in an ever-changing environment.
  • Interfacing with business customers to gather data and metrics requirements, then driving analytic projects which will help solve complex challenges.
  • Design, implement, and support key datasets that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information.
  • Perform deep-dives to find the root causes behind variances of key parameters.
  • Experience working in a very large data warehouse environment and multi data sources.
  • Analyzing data and driving insights related to operation and compliance.
  • Build data pipelines for the customers to self-serve very seamlessly.
  • Investigate and implement new big data technologies to provide automatic resolutions to address stakeholder needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years’ experience as a BIE, data scientist, data engineer or similar job function with a technology company.
  • 1+ years experience in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
  • 1+ experience skills in data visualization tools like QuickSight, Tableau or Cognos Solutions.
  • 1+ years experience using AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, EC2, EMR and data pipelines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Software Development and full product life-cycles
  • Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
  • Experience with both backend and front end development (full stack engineering).
  • Experience with AWS technologies.
  • Ability to design for performance, scalability, and availability
  • Proficiency with at least one of Perl/Python/Ruby/Shell Script languages
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience with Agile software development in a UNIX/Linux environment
