Job summary

AWS is seeking a motivated and data-driven Services Procurement Associate to support the EMEA data centre cabling category. The candidate should have strong supply chain and procurement skills, analytical and financial acumen, communication capabilities and a hands-on passion to dive-deep into processes used in our data center operations network.

As a Services Procurement Associate, you will support the EMEA Cable Vendor Management team and collaborate with internal business partners and suppliers to reduce risks and costs for AWS. You will develop mechanisms and metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery. Additionally, you will drive results through methods that include competitive bidding, negotiating, analysing supplier performance and market trends for your category. You will also support global Procurement processes and tools to drive innovation across teams.

The ideal candidate thinks long term, drives multiple initiatives, and communicates appropriately and influences customers and suppliers at all levels.   • Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Support a the Cable Vendor Management category within the Capex Construction/Project domain
  • Manage a ticketing system for requests from customers for supplier services
  • Conduct Requests for Quote (RFQ) and manage the tendering process
  • Carry out monthly supplier performance reviews
  • Carry out supplier data administration in our supplier database
  • Analyse category data and metrics to drive Procurement category strategies
  • Achieve cost savings through bidding and negotiations
  • Understand trends in customers’ needs and concerns, across categories and regions, to influence customers’ priorities
  • Lead supplier selection process across multiple categories, internal teams, and regions, and create longer-term supplier selection strategies for management
  • Ensure you are knowledgeable about the supply market and supplier capabilities, technically and geographically
  • Develop mechanisms and metrics to track supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and cost
  • Create supplier scorecards to measure and track supplier performance
  • Innovate within the procurement space, automating and/or improving tools or processes to better support the Procurement Life-cycle
  • Provide support throughout the contracting process, as well as management of contracts post-execution

Key job responsibilities

  • Process cable bid requests and award vendor contracts.
  • Ensure cable vendors deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Conduct monthly cable vendor performance meetings
  • Be the point of escalation for vendor related issues
  • Ensure sufficient vendor capacity for projects
  • Track the on time starting and finishing of cable projects
  • Explore new ways of working that allows for faster project delivery

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Procurement organization performing vendor management, contract management, negotiating complex purchases, and bidding
  • Demonstrated ability as a Project Manager who can prioritize workload and manage complex projects within cost and schedule
  • Strong business judgement, instincts, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to overcome obstacles and deliver results

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and concepts
  • Fluent English written and verbal communication
  • Proficient written and verbal communication in another European language
  • Advanced excel
