The Partner Insights & Optimization team owns the central business intelligence and analytics function for the AWS Partner Organization. We are a team of builders that enable self-service reporting capability across partner programs, analyze and optimize partner investments, and drive adoption of scalable and automated mechanisms.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer on this team, you will apply programming, SQL, and visualization skills to develop scalable BI solutions. Your deliverables will help accelerate the business with data-driven analyses, metrics, and insight

Key job responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and build business critical metrics and reports across all business levers, key performance indicators, and financials.
  • Provide data engineering with functional and technical requirements to improve efficiency of data pipelines.
  • Own strategy and alignment of analytical initiatives across the global partner teams.
  • Drive efforts with business leaders, BI leaders and executive management across the partner organization.
  • Own key executive reports and metrics that are consumed by our executive leadership team and partner field organization.
  • Provide thought leadership in global business deep dives across a variety of key performance indicators.
  • Partner with engineering, product, business and finance teams to create key performance indicators and new methodologies for measurement.
  • Translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders both in and out of the team, create analytical insights to identify key priorities.
  • Proactively make and justify recommendations based on advanced statistical techniques, deep familiarity with the customer or developer experiences, as well as by cross-referencing multiple data sources and comparing against the wider industry.
  • Automate reporting for regular metrics, identify areas of opportunity to automate, scale ad-hoc analyses, build and inform BI tool improvements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related, highly analytical field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business analysis, and business intelligence
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience using SQL for ETL, data warehousing, data modeling, and analyses
  • 3+ years of experience with data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau, Quicksight, QlickView)
  • Experience with statistical techniques, such as regression analysis, predictive modeling, segmentation, forecasting, hypothesis testing, multivariate testing
  • Experience data mining with large data sets and big data technologies
  • Excellent written communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business analysis, and business intelligence
  • 3+ years of experience using data to build business cases, back up assumptions, develop hypotheses, and complete root cause analysis.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in a scripting language
  • Excellent analytical and inter-personal skills, with track record of recommending business decisions using data
  • Experience working with AWS services and/or other cloud-based big data solutions
  • Experience working within a Sales, Marketing, or SaaS organization highly preferred
