Job Description

This role requires meaningful experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery or development, knowledge of sophisticated analytics of multivariate data domains, and applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to optimize programs across discovery and development. This includes novel uses of multi-omic and clinical data from multiple sources, including, but not limited to: large biobanks; preclinical and clinical studies; and real-world data. Analyses will drive precision medicine strategy for target discovery and patient stratification. This role will also support integrating data science and digital health throughout development programs across the portfolio. This role will report to the Senior Director, DSDH, Discovery and Portfolio Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of disease biology and AI/ML techniques and their application in biomarker and drug discovery, as well as experience with inflammatory diseases. The candidate should have strong stakeholder management skills, including driving consensus among senior leaders, as well as an ability to form and lead the execution of a clear AI/ML-based strategy to identify new drug targets and biomarkers in inflammatory diseases, all in close partnership with internal stakeholders and partners.

The candidate's work will be tightly coupled with our Immunology Discovery and Translational Medicine, Population Genetics, and JRD Data Science teams.

  • Build the strategy and process for evaluating target opportunities from the perspective of multi-omics biology, drawing upon a combination of internal and external resources.
  • Develop tools and platforms to enable AI/ML-driven discovery and translational science initiatives.
  • Collaborate with scientists and clinicians to develop data-driven strategies for precision medicine in immunology by being forward-looking and foreseeing the path to launch.
  • Chart the path for the use of real-world data integrated within clinical programs to accelerate development, and strengthen understanding of unmet need and opportunities to benefit patient subtypes within and across immunology indications. Remain current on the constantly evolving landscape of Immunology, genomics, bioinformatics and AI/ML research and the use of RWD in search of new strategies for strengthening the portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD or MD with 2+ years of experience or MS with 5+ years of experience in a biologic, computational science, or other related quantitative field (e.g., biomedical engineering, computational biology, genetics)
  • Extensive background working hands-on deriving insights from high-dimensional molecular, imaging, or real-world data.
  • Experience working in the context of target discovery and validation or biomarkers in a pharmaceutical company.
  • Ability to translate data into easily digestible information and imputing strategies into executable action plans.
  • Known for driving towards novel solutions to complex biologic, chemical, or technical problems (often sought after for strategic advice).
  • Experience working in matrix organizations and leading interdisciplinary teams including scientists, clinicians, business, and finance.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical work to a diverse audience is required.

Preferred:

  • Background and experience working in Inflammatory Diseases
  • Strong familiarity with drug discovery and development
  • Track record of scientific contributions in this field with publications in high-impact journals.
  • Management consulting experience, including managing projects with diverse senior level audiences, is a plus

Expected Salary: $135,000 - $202,000
