Janssen Research & Development (“JRD), a Johnson & Johnson company, is recruiting for a Post-Doctoral Scientist, Data Science RWE (Real World Evidence) Advanced Analytics. The primary location for this position is flexible either Titusville, NJ or remote may also be considered.

The R&D Data Science RWE Advanced Analytics team within Janssen develops innovative solutions leveraging a variety of different data sources across multiple disease areas in support of Janssen’s key clinical programs. We are looking for an outstanding post-doctoral scientist whose responsibilities will include the development of cutting-edge methodologies to develop RWD-based solutions to enable disease insights, improve patient outcomes, and enhance clinical development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing methodological methods to implement causal inference and automated learning of causal structures approaches to machine learning models to improve the predictability of the outcomes applied to clinical development programs.
  • Leading and contributing to the development of modeling and simulation approaches to answer critical questions in clinical development. By using innovative modeling & simulation methodologies, contributing to critical decision making like study design, dose selection, adaptive designs, etc. based on real-world data (RWD).
  • Leading and contributing to the development of artificial intelligence/machine learning models in healthcare (e.g., disease identification, patient stratification, disease progression, forecasting) based on RWD that will provide key insights on our pipeline assets.
  • Demonstrating emerging scientific and technological developments to generate new research ideas, solutions and initiatives using real-world data (electronic health records, insurance claims, registry data, others).
  • Clearly articulating highly technical methods and results to diverse audiences and partners to drive decision-making.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Health Economics, Biomedical Informatics, or related field).
  • Experience with any of: statistical modeling, simulation, machine learning, deep learning, causal inference methods, multivariate regression and classification, forecasting, and natural language processing.
  • Hands-on technical data analysis and machine learning modeling experience.
  • Experience in either EHR, insurance claims, clinical trial outcomes, or registry data.
  • Proficiency in Python or R, and SQL.
  • Experience working with healthcare subject matter authorities.
  • Experience delivering on Data Science projects using causal inference, machine learning, or simulation preferred.
  • Familiarity with and exposure to drug discovery and clinical development processes with one or more of the following therapeutic areas: oncology, immunology, cardiovascular, neuroscience, pulmonary hypertension, or infectious disease preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of consistently delivering on high impact data science projects.
