The Data Catalog & Governance Product team is committed to make data accessible to all R&D associates, ensuring high-quality data, robust data pipelines, and streamlined data consumption. The ROG squad is part of this product team, and focuses on providing innovative foundational capabilities and services to support its mission. Specifically, we aim to:

  • Enable domain experts and application owners to progressively model, harmonize, and enrich relevant vocabularies and ontologies
  • Support efficient annotation of content with clear semantic entity identifiers, independent of terminology used
  • Improve data findability and interoperability through these models and semantic content annotations

Key responsibilities:

In this position, you will be building partnerships within both business and IT. Your key areas of focus will be:

  • Together with business partners, model their space and integrate the model for annotating content with semantic entities, making them findable and interoperable
  • Build strategic capabilities to ensure internal consistency within the ontology modelling ecosystem and efficient extraction of semantic entities from content
  • Explore the benefits of combining large language models (LLMs) and generative AI with ontology modeling to improve semantic entity recognition and annotation
  • Engage solution architects to identify and integrate suitable modular capabilities
  • Manage squad resources and budgeting
  • Coordinate with the scrum master to streamline vision-to-execution flow and ensure iterative delivery
  • Encourage the squad in refining requirements, maintaining clear communication, and delivering valuable product increments

Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required; Master's or MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Required:

  • Experience in a Pharma R&D data ecosystem
  • Proficiency in vocabulary and ontology governance
  • Ability to bring structure to complex research spaces
  • Nurture and maintain positive stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to bridge the gap between functional and technical team members
  • Flexibility to balance between strategy and delivery
  • Experience in user story mapping, backlog grooming, and sprint planning
  • Ability to embrace change, iterate quickly, and gather feedback
  • Growth mindset and dedication to continuous learning and improvement
  • Consistently demonstrate knowledge seeking and sharing behaviors in the performance of daily work

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with data governance and data catalog tools
  • Familiarity with large language models and generative AI
  • Hands-on experience with collaboration tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket
  • Certified PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner)
