Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for a Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Lead (New Consumer Health Company). This position may be located in New Brunswick, NJ; Skillman, NJ; or Fort Washington, PA and open to consideration of talent at any major J&J Consumer Health office location globally (as well as remote)

Position Description: 

The Global End-to-end (E2E) Data & Digital Acceleration is a newly formed team that will lead the transformation of Consumer Health towards a data and digital first culture with the deployment of rapid, high value E2E data products and solutions. This team will be responsible for targeted E2E Data and Digital outcomes that require a cross-functional focus to unlock our growth strategy leveraging Data Science/AI and Intelligent Automation. The team is business-led, technology enabled and will have responsibility to enable achievement of the J&J Consumer Health 3-year strategic growth objectives viz. Net Trade Sales Acceleration (4%-5% CAGR), Gross Profit Optimization (300 basis points), and Free Cash flow optimization. One of the key focus areas for this team will be to design, build, and maintain scalable and robust models that support end-to-end data products. As a trusted leader in the Global E2E Data and Digital Acceleration Team, this role will be uniquely positioned to work collaboratively with strategic external partners, global leaders, and executives across the business and technology to passionately understand our business and analytical needs, define and operationalize our Data Science and AI approach and roadmap, and ultimately deliver actionable insights across functions and regions, and enable outcomes that matter in our local markets. This role has a global span, has direct accountability for a team of directors/managers with multi-functional domain expertise. The role requires setting the global J&J Consumer Health Data Science/AI strategy, being directly accountable for the delivery of major use cases, and steering the function-specific data science/AI strategies. The role requires acceleration of NTS, GP, and FCF target achievement, through a high level of business understanding, influence, and shaping of the overall data science/AI journey for the company. 

As a strategic problem solver, technologist, and an expert in data science and AI, this role will empower our technology and business partners through the management and delivery of high-quality insights that will be foundational in achieving our digital-first ambitions.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Will grow and lead a team of full-time direct reports and significant network of function and region-based dotted line resources to: 
• Build data science and augmented analytics solutions for strategic initiatives: Build models for end-to-end data products. Generate key business insights by employing solutions such as real-time reporting, predictive analytics, and end-to-end dashboards 
• Create and implement solution designs: Design, architect, and develop solutions leveraging big data technology (Open Source, GCP, AWS or Microsoft) to ingest, process and analyze large, disparate data sets 
• AI at scale: Build and apply AI at scale (natural language processing & generation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc.) as appropriate for strategic initiatives 
• Manage AI Governance: Set the governance, trust, and validation agendas for data science initiatives while maintaining compliance of Data Science and AI solutions 

• Provide Data Science and AI Leadership: Function as the Data Science and AI community of practice leader for the enterprise. Shape career pathways for Data Scientists and create a vibrant and contemporary data science community that attracts and retains top talent in the industry 
• Deliver and accelerate value realization: Define and track KPIs to capture value realization for strategic initiatives 

Qualifications

Position Requirements: 

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, other equivalent disciplines is preferred 

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in the Data Science and AI space, ideally with over 5 years in the Consumer Health industry 
• 5+ years of experience in building high-performing data science and ML/AI teams, including managing managers. Must be able to mentor Data Scientists and Engineers on best practices and development & production of sophisticated models 
• Minimum 10 overall years as a hands-on practitioner developing software solutions using Agile methodology of which 6+ years of experience is in AI/ML product solutions 
• Strong background in Data Science, Machine Learning, NLP, Text processing of large data sets 
• Ability to drive P&L impact through analytics 

• Experience in building highly scalable ML/AI services 
• Experience leading teams in building sophisticated real-time, near real-time data processing pipelines on Big Data (Hadoop/Spark etc.) 
• Significant experience implementing large-scale projects, using a geographically distributed technology organization in a highly matrixed environment 
• Strong business analytical skills to develop technical and functional requirements, use cases, user story maps and other related artifacts 
• Experience in reviewing technical solution design and evaluation to ensure it meets business requirements and long-term product goals 

• Experience developing processes and tools to supervise and analyze model performance and data accuracy 
• Possess broad knowledge across the entire data science lifecycle, including data engineering, statistics, and model governance and trust 
• The ability to lead without reporting authority and to achieve outcomes in a matrix, complex environment - leading through influence and deep collaboration across the franchise and enterprise 
• The ability to manage ambiguity and shape new initiatives and teams from scratch 
• Credible executive with ability to influence Sr. leadership across the enterprise while ensuring execution at all levels, including at the ITLT level (IT Leadership team reporting into the CIO/CDO) 

• Strategic thinking and big picture orientation /business acumen with strong interactions with key stakeholders 
• Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels in the organization and with external credibility 
• Familiar and stays abreast of technology thought leadership - latest advances in the market, trends, and modern technology
• Reasonable coverage over a breadth of areas such as (preferred): 
• Connecting to various data sources and structures: APIs, NoSQL, RDBMS, Hadoop, S3, Blob Storage, etc. 

• Setting up data and experimental platforms 
• Hands-on experience with languages/tools/libraries/capabilities such as: R or SAS, Python, Java/C#, RapidMiner, SAS, Scala, SQL, Hive, Pig, Weka, NumPy, PyMongo, R, Tensorflow, etc. 
• Pattern recognition and predictive modelling 
• Recommendation engines, scoring systems, A/B testing 
• Experience in one or more of the following: Dataiku, DataRobot, Databricks, UiPath
