Johnson & Johnson Vision (JJV), a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Lead Data Scientist to join their new and growing Global Data Science & Advanced Analytics team based out of Jacksonville, FL. This team is part of Vision Care’s Global Business Intelligence team within Global Franchise Development.

Since debuting the world’s first disposable soft contact lens in 1987, it has been helping patients see better through their world-leading ACUVUE ® Brand Contact Lenses. In 2017, J&J expanded into cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery (LASIK), and consumer eye health and now serves more than 60 million patients a day across 103 countries with its eye health portfolio.

The JJV Global Data Science and Advanced Analytics team is looking for an outstanding Data Scientist who is interested in designing, developing, and fielding impactful data science solutions. You will help identify viable data science opportunities, inform necessary data strategy, and then conceive, test, develop and implement end-to end data analytical solutions. This position will be instrumental in helping shape global marketing/sales tactics by developing a variety of AI/ML models for use such as product retention risk, consumer profiling, propensity to engage, channel recommendation, and marketing mix models among others.

The Lead Data Scientist will:

• Identify & scale best practices (cross-enterprise teams/external partners) and advanced models/techniques - harnessing AI/Machine Learning where appropriate. 
• Work with Global & Regional teams to collect data, design, build, and implement AI/ML models to support Vision Care initiatives and improve their outcomes
• Research and evaluate innovative analytical methodologies, approaches, and solutions
• Interpret and communicate analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners
• Make decisions regarding own work methods, sometimes in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed
• Partner with regional markets & business customers to identify, align, and prioritize relevant and high valued data for analytical consumption
• Partner with IT to enable a sustainable life cycle journey for prioritized data, including ingestion, cataloguing, data quality controls, & data governance
• Uncover new high potential untapped data sources for use and sourcing, including JNJ enterprise data and 3rd part data
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

• PhD + 2 years’ experience, Master’s Degree + 4 years experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree + 6 years experience
• Educational degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, and or related quantitative
• Experience developing and validating machine learning and statistical forecasting models or predictive models, including Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, Neural Networks, cluster analysis, regression analysis, time series, and forecasting
• Proficiency in SQL, Spark, R, Python data science stack or other ML tools
• Experience in cloud computing, Azure or AWS
• Experience with MLOps
• Experience interpreting and communicating analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Retail/Consumer/Marketing businesses
• Experience in Vision Care/Medical Devices categories
• Experience working in a large matrixed organization, with a global footprint
• Experience in deep learning, natural language processing, and recommendation
