Job Description

Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V. is recruiting a Principal Data Scientist. This position will be based in Beerse, Belgium. Other locations considered: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Switzerland.

Travel in Europe up to 20% may be required.

You will become part of an accomplished team that develops data science solutions in areas such as marketing, sales, strategic customer groups, commercial excellence, medical affairs, epidemiology and Real World Evidence. You will be responsible for owning the design, development and scaling of innovative AI solutions & data science products for our commercial excellence teams. You will be accountable for applying technology-driven analytics(e.g., NLP, artificial intelligence/machine learning, semantics).

You will work closely together with colleagues across the different business functions and IT. Together with the business owners, you identify and validate opportunities for data science solutions. You're not scared of rolling your sleeves up and execute or assist with Proof-of-Concept studies and lead the scaling of conceptual solutions to enterprise capabilities. You have a passion for data science and a math or engineering background with the desire to use these skills where they have impact. You have the ability to understand the high level picture and drive strategy but also the possibility to get into the actual code and provide technical leadership.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Commercial Engineer or a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of postdoc or industrial experience OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience .
• Proven hands-on expertise through building and delivering solutions in one or more of the following areas: supervised or unsupervised machine learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP).
• You have experience with technical and organisational aspects of scaling data science solutions
• Proficiency with Python – in particular use of Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Tensorflow, pipeline frameworks
• Excellent aptitude for application of mathematics and quantitative methods to business problems is helpful e.g. statistics, probability, linear algebra, optimisation
• Passion toward healthcare and strong understanding of technological landscape in big data is preferred.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills are required.
• You combine your excellent technical and mathematical skills with pragmatism and can apply those skills in real world situations.
