Job Description

You will be joining an established data science team in AP CoE Translational Science in Janssen R&D, contributing to the analysis and interpretation of real-world data, as well as preparing abstracts and presentations. You will join the discussions with key stakeholders and implement modern and innovative data analytics approaches to generate impactful evidence and insights, that supports R&D, advances scientific and medical knowledge. You will also contribute to functional, cross-functional, enterprise-wide or external initiatives that shape our business and healthcare environments. This will require a deep understanding of molecule and disease area strategies, healthcare environments, as well as strong scientific and technical data science expertise. You will need strong strategic, collaboration and communication skills, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset, to transform the way we use data and analytics to develop and deliver medicines for our patients. Your Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop strategic plans to access fit-for-purpose data sources to support evidence generation, and gain access to data through collaboration or data generation
• Contribute to the primary strategic and operational responsibility for the design, execution, and reporting of RWD studies using a variety of available research and commercial healthcare databases
• Work closely with clinical development, operations, and medical affairs departments across Janssen R&D to provide critical analysis, thinking, ideate and make recommendations on fit-for-purpose RWD data and analytics solutions to support medical and regulatory needs
• Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas, and develop them from your concept to a solution
• Lead RWD analysis projects from start to completing, supporting execution of data science strategy, analytical module development, and identifying opportunities of data science implementation, and associated value messaging.
• Develop and apply advanced computational techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing, on RWD
• Communicate analysis results through presentations and publications to ensure high quality results from analysis are published as posters, abstracts and manuscripts at external and internal events, and increase scientific profile and visibility of the organization

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Medicine, Statistics, or related areas
• 8+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical Industry/4+ years expert knowledge RWD/RWE methods applications to support drug development both in China and oversea countries
• Extensive experience of applying data science methodology in various drug development phases
• Strong knowledge of regulatory environment in China
• Excellent skills in designing, conducting, analyzing, and interpreting epidemiological studies, especially those based on large electronic health records databases
• Strong computing ability including knowledge of specialized epidemiological/statistical packages, A.I. / machine learning / deep learning, natural language processing
• Extensive experience with Drug Development and different phases of clinical trials
• Hands-on experience in Big Data framework and technologies
• Experience in scientific writing of peer-reviewed, academic and/or public health literature
• Track record of effectively working in a matrix environment with global, international team members coming from scientific, business and operational backgrounds, using influence without authority
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset and self-direction, ability to teach others and willingness to learn new techniques
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong understanding of research methodology and statistics, as well as strong technical writing, and strong ability to critically review published scientific literature
• Strong verbal and written communication, presentation skills, including experience
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to set priorities and develop strategies/studies to answer complex research questions
• Experience managing multiple projects, often complex in nature and with both internal and external stakeholders under short timelines
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data
• Ability to contribute to written processes to ensure consistent and quality deliverables
• Proven experience in designing and implementing machine learning and advanced analytics solutions.
• Data cleaning and engineering experience in transforming primary data sources into consumable format in the data science realm.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and R required.
• Software development experience is a plus.
• Agile experience is a plus.
