Every day, our more than 130,000 employees across the world are blending heart, science and resourcefulness to profoundly change the trajectory of health for humanity.

The Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) group is looking for a Post-doctoral scientist to join the Emerging Technology team to implement innovative solutions in process analytical technology (PAT) sensors and machine learning modeling to support next-generation manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. New platform technology in vaccines, cell and gene therapy and traditional monoclonal antibody production require fresh thinking to support real time measurements for product quality attributes through the use of PAT. PAT is a key enabler of advanced process control (APC) and real time release testing (RTRt) initiatives for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The candidate will design research around novel PAT and data analytics technology on a development scale to support commercial scale implementation. Although we support all therapeutic platforms, a focus in our large molecule API, and advanced therapies are prioritized critical initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for design and execution of lab-scale protocols to develop the technology and develop business cases to support commercial implementation. The candidate will develop multivariate models to support real time release initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new PAT sensors
  • Originate, lead and complete projects using mechanistic modeling and/or PAT projects for implementation in manufacturing
  • Collaborate with various other functions within the larger MSAT and R&D teams
  • Develop, validate, and implement high impact models in a GMP environment
  • Develop new strategies for next generation manufacturing
  • Lead activities associated with ongoing multivariate analysis projects
