As a Sr. Data Quality Analyst at Octo, you will support analytical and data science initiatives for the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). You will interact with government stakeholders and teaming partners to gather requirements and propose analytic solutions. You will work across our client engagements, providing expertise in data collection, data analysis, data mapping, data profiling, data mining and data modeling. You will be responsible for inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data, and will address issues related to data completeness and quality. In this role, you will monitor the quality of data and examine complex data to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected. You will resolve data quality problems, and collaborate with our software engineers to ensure that we are creating best-in-class solutions to solve our customers’ complex data challenges.

Program Mission…

This program within the Department of Veterans Affairs will provide a cross-functional team capable of developing data products for emergent enterprise requirements by leveraging the toolset available on the Summit Data Platform. This team will provide responsive support for emerging data and analytics needs that originate from executive leadership and VA offices across the enterprise. These data integration and data insights will help solve emergent challenges for the Department in response to changing laws, regulations and needs for reporting to external entities, and ultimately will provide better support to the veterans.

Key Responsibilities…

  • Work across client engagements, providing expertise in data collection, data analysis, data mapping, data profiling, data mining and data modeling.
  • Responsible for inspecting, cleansing, transforming and modeling data and will address issues related to data completeness and quality.
  • Work directly with our software development team to ensure that we are creating best-in-class solutions to solve our customers’ complex data challenges.
  • Monitor the quality of data and examine complex data to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected.
  • Support the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of models in production use cases
  • Conduct data profiling and predictive analysis using a variety of standard tools.
  • Analyze and model structured data using advanced statistical methods and implement algorithms and software needed to perform analyses.
  • Integrates and prepares large, varied datasets for analysis. Identify and assess data attributes using statistical software packages in order to develop recommendations and analytical processes based on mission requirements.
  • Researches, develops, implements and utilizes statistical methods and strategies to address tactical and strategic problem sets, while working with a technical team.
  • Interprets and analyzes data collected from a variety of sources using exploratory and statistical techniques, validating findings using an experimental and iterative approach.

Years of Experience: 6-8 years of recent professional experience in data science, data mining and/or data Analysis. Prefer healthcare/clinical analytics experience.

Education: B.S. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics OR 8 years of additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Location: Remote within the United States. Must have reliable internet service that allows for effective telecommuting.

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • See below for experience and education requirements.
  • Must be proficient in SQL, Python, PowerShell.
  • Proficient in software or data testing.
  • Exposure to Azure and cloud-based systems.
  • Prefer prior exposure to DevOps/DevSecOps/MLOps pipelines, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to conduct data profiling and predictive analysis using a variety of standard tools.
  • Prefer experience working in healthcare settings/with healthcare data.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and methodologies.
  • Candidates must possess strong communication skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent customer skills are a must as well as strong aptitude to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to adapt well to diverse environments and work collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize work.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Prefer previous federal or government experience, specifically supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs preferred – especially knowledge of VA data assets such as the corporate data warehouse (CDW)
  • Prefer experience in an Agile DevOps environment.
  • Prefer healthcare/clinical analytics experience.
