Your Role and Responsibilities

As an Entry Level Data Scientist at IBM, you will work to solve business problems by combining leading open source tools such as Python, R and TensorFlow with IBM tools and our AI application suites. You prepare, analyze and understand data to generate insights, predict new trends and make recommendations to stakeholders.

In your role you can be responsible for:

• Implementation and validation of predictive and prescriptive models as well as creation and maintenance of statistical models with a focus on big data and incorporating machine learning techniques into your projects

• Write programs to clean and integrate data in an efficient and reusable manner

• You will work in an agile, collaborative environment where you will work with other scientists, engineers, consultants and database administrators from all disciplines to apply analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of behavior prediction

• Communicate with internal and external customers to understand and define business requirements and appropriate modeling techniques to provide analytical solutions.

• Evaluation of modeling results and communication of the results to technical and non-technical target groups.

Required technical and professional expertise

• MSc in a quantitatively oriented subject – STEM – with excellent academic achievements (e.g. data science, statistics, mathematics, physics, industrial engineering).

• Very good knowledge of statistics, data science, artificial intelligence.

• 2 years of practical experience in Data Science & Machine Learning (Python Machine Learning Ecosystem – sklearn, pandas, numpy, scipy, matplotlib/bokeh/plotly), Deep Learning (PyTorch/Tensorflow)

• Strong communication skills, flexibility and problem-solving skills, including the use of data visualization and experience in presenting complex issues to business stakeholders.

• High flexibility and willingness to travel

Preferred technical and professional expertise

• 2 years of practical experience in deep learning (e.g. computer vision / NLP)

• 1 year of practical experience in Machine Learning Cloud Platforms (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud)

• Initial experience in one of the following industries: Industrial Manufacturing, Automotive, Chemicals & Petroleum, Life Sciences, Consumer Products or Retail
