Job Description

IBM Research Scientists are charting the future of Artificial Intelligence, creating breakthroughs in quantum computing, discovering how blockchain will reshape the enterprise, and much more. Join a team that is dedicated to applying science to some of today’s most complex challenges, whether it’s discovering a new way for doctors to help patients, teaming with environmentalists to clean up our waterways or enabling retailers to personalize customer service.

Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Research Brazil is hiring a research scientist to join the Industrial Technology and Science group, which conducts research in accelerated discovery of novel materials for carbon capture, separation, and storage. The research is part of a global initiative for accelerating scientific discovery in climate and sustainability. Specifically, we model materials from the molecular level to the process level with a combination of physics-driven and data-driven models. Our computational simulations run in a cloud based, high performance computing environment, where the automation and user interactions are enabled via application programming interfaces and/or graphical user interfaces.

We are searching for candidates with deep expertise in Density Functional Theory, Grand Canonical Monte Carlo, Classical and/or Ab initio Molecular Dynamics. The successful candidate will also possess a second area of expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: Cloud Computing, Scientific Software Development, DevOps, Deep Learning, Cheminformatics, Generative Models, Physics-Informed Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for Physical Simulations.

You will join a multi-disciplinary research team highly motivated team to advance fundamental and applied materials science, publish in technical journals and conferences, while developing computational prototype technologies and helping to shape new scientific software products. You will be working in a stimulating environment, leveraging cross-disciplinary expertise in science and technology, to transform and accelerate materials discovery.
