Our mission is to provide best-in-class consulting services and managed solutions to help clients uncover actionable insights using AI and analytics to analyze weather and climate data in order to mitigate risk, optimize readiness, improve operational decision making and provide situational awareness across weather (daily to seasonal) and climate (annual to decadal) timescales.
As former IBM CEO Lou Gerstner said “You don’t get points for predicting rain. You get points for building arks” – we are the team building the arks for our clients.
As a Meteorological Data Scientist at IBM, you will leverage your quantitative analytic and meteorological skill sets to drive positive business outcomes for IBM clients. You will have an opportunity to join a tight-knit and highly motivated team with a proven track record of consistent excellence in client deliveries. In this role you will substantially contribute to the planning and execution of technical projects across all industry verticals. Working with other consultants in the CoC, you will deploy your technical skillset to identify and process the most appropriate meteorological, geospatial and land surface data sets for a particular project. Drawing upon your meteorological knowledge, you will be prepared to infer hypotheses from the data about key relationships between these data and business metrics. You will be able to apply statistical analysis and machine learning to develop models and will help deploy these models to production. You will be capable of clearly communicating your findings to clients.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Leverage your meteorological and quantitative skillset to assist IBM consultants deliver customized solutions for individual clients and their use cases.
  • Partner with client-facing GTM teams – supporting their early client engagements and business development
  • Develop and maintain a depth of domain and practice expertise capable of co-creating and shaping solutions that address client business outcomes challenges
