Your role and responsibilities

As an Associate Data Scientist at IBM, you'll work to solve business problems by combining leading open source tools like Python, R and TensorFlow with IBM tools and our AI application suites. You prepare, analyze and understand data to generate insights, predict new trends and make recommendations for stakeholders.

In your role you can be responsible for:

  • Implementation and validation of predictive and prescriptive models as well as creation and maintenance of statistical models with a focus on big data and incorporating machine learning techniques into your projects
  • Writing programs to cleanse and integrate data in an efficient and reusable way
  • You will work in an agile, collaborative environment where you will work with other scientists, engineers, consultants and database administrators from all disciplines to apply analytical and statistical methods to the challenges of behavioral prediction
  • Communicate with internal and external clients to understand and define business requirements and appropriate modeling techniques to provide analytical solutions.
  • Evaluation of modeling results and communication of the results to technical and non-technical target groups

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Mathematical and IT basic understanding (algorithmics)
  • Very good knowledge of at least one of the statistical programming languages ​​such as R, Python, Scala or SAS, SPSS, Matlab.
  • Understanding of key concepts related to Foundation Models, Large Language Models, Analytical and Predictive Modeling
  • Ability to identify problems and design, build and validate successful AI solutions.
  • Ability to experimentally demonstrate and evaluate AI solutions, particularly through hands-on prototyping.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a local team.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills.

Preferred technical and professional expertise

  • First experiences with Big Data/Data Science technologies
  • Experience in data analysis, evaluation or data visualization
  • Initial knowledge of using data platforms in the cloud (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Snowflake, etc.)
