Your Role and Responsibilities

The Quantum Machine Learning team at IBM Quantum is leading the evolution of the field in experimental and theoretical directions. We study the trainability, generalization, and expressive power in quantum machine learning models with the aim to achieve quantum advantage. Our works often transforms into customer-usable modules in Qiskit, IBM’s open-source quantum software stack. Our recent work includes:

As a Quantum Machine Learning Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be investigating new QML algorithms, lead the implementations of large-scale experimental quantum machine learning projects, and contribute the the discussion of hardware design optimization.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• PhD degree in quantum machine learning or related fields.
• Experience with modern software languages like Python, Julia, Go, or C/C++.
• Experience using machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Jax) or MLOps platforms (e.g., MLFlow, Kubeflow).
• Ability to formulate machine learning architectures for tackling real-world problems.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Industry experience in one or more of the following ML tasks: classification, pattern recognition, or generative modeling.
• Experience with the software development lifecycle and related best practices.
• Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with teams in a cross-functional setting.
• Knowledge or experience with quantum computing.
• Knowledge or experience of at least one Jax deep learning library (e.g. Flax, Trax)
