Key Qualifications

• Strong skills in object-oriented software design and programming. Proficient in one programming language, preferably Python
• Proficient in common ML and deep-learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow. Contributions to open source code a huge bonus.
• Comfortable working independently to deliver results with minimal direction.
• Oriented towards practical solutions that can be proven empirically, as opposed to theoretical research.
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
• Background in either of Machine Learning (ML), Federated Learning (FL), Distributed Systems or Software Engineering.
• Dedication to high quality, well-tested code, and automation.

Description

You will design and implement features for Private Federated Learning that will benefit millions of Apple users worldwide. You will use your software engineering and ML expertise to build modular and well tested code to improve tooling and our Python framework for PFL. You will review designs and code by others and provide constructive feedback.

Embedding with the core team, you’ll work with other software and ML engineers to perform empirical analysis, enhance existing ML/FL frameworks and make experimental features viable for production-readiness. You will improve the framework for engineering efficiency of contributors, plus user experience with onboarding, learning and using APIs. You will implement and benchmark state-of-the-art algorithms, as new features.
