Job Description

The Siri team in the AIML group at Apple is looking for an exceptional power & performance engineer to lead work to identify bottlenecks and optimize our Siri software stack. In this highly collaborative role, you will be at the center of multiple efforts to accelerate and optimize Siri for efficient use of on-device resources while delivering accurate and fast results. You will work with silicon teams in providing requirements on changes that are beneficial to Siri. We are looking for someone deeply familiar with the interaction of software and on-device computational units, caches and memory, who is passionate about identifying and optimizing performance bottlenecks. You should have a strong mix of education and practical experience with a real passion for diving in to challenging problems head first!

Key Qualifications

  • Strong and proven software development skills
  • Strong understanding of Operating System, Compiler and Computer Architecture fundamentals. Expertise in optimizing software for take advantage of underlying hardware architecture.
  • Experience in analyzing, identifying, and optimizing performance bottlenecks.
  • Expertise in ML model architectures and how to optimize them for on device inference.
  • Creative, collaborative, and product-focused
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Swift, Objective-C and Apple development tools is a definite plus!

We are looking for an experienced engineer who are passionate about machine learning power and performance. In this role, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and dealing with a lot of ambiguity. You will have strong influence over how Siri features are developed to ensure customers receive the most efficient and highly performant products possible. You will be accountable for defining performance requirements and resource budgets, selecting and measuring key use cases, identifying bottlenecks, and providing metrics and guidance for optimizing complex hardware/software systems across all devices, as well as communicating status and progress to stakeholders. You will be joining a team focused on helping product and ML teams at Apple improve performance by leveraging performance tools and data, to provide optimization opportunities. You will multiply those around you by mentoring, motivating and challenging engineers to deliver features at high quality. Education & Experience

BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent with 4+ years experience

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700 and $300,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
