Job Description

The Video Computer Vision org is a centralized applied research and engineering organization responsible for developing real-time on-device Computer Vision and Machine Perception technologies across Apple products. We balance research and product to deliver Apple quality, state-of-the-art experiences, innovating through the full stack, and partnering with HW, SW and ML teams to influence the sensor and silicon roadmap that brings our vision to life.

In this role, you will work together with similar minds in a unique development team where your skills and expertise will be put into the Apple products. This role is highly multi-functional and you will work very closely with various highly skilled machine learning and software development teams developing groundbreaking algorithms.

Key Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience in modern C++ & Python (Objective C/C++, Swift is a plus).
• Familiar with algorithm implementation and optimization with platform constraints.
• Experience in computer vision / machine learning product development and delivery. Experience in working with complex software stacks.
• Creativity and curiosity for solving highly sophisticated problems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in biometrics/face tracking/gaze tracking (preferred)

Description

We are looking for a Machine Learning Software Engineer to join the team of highly accomplished and deeply technical scientists. In this role, you design and create machine learning systems, implement and integrate new algorithms, and optimize the system to improve performance. You will also have the opportunity to give to impactful projects at Apple, and use your skills to transfer ideas into solutions for some of the most complicated technical problems in the next generation of products that will delight millions of people.

Your key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

• Implement and integrate deep learning and machine learning algorithms to solve real-world computer vision problems.
• Working with algorithm, firmware and complier teams to deploy the models on Apple devices.
• Model optimization, pruning and acceleration to run efficiently on device.
• Design and developing end-to-end pipelines to validate model implementation/integration in large scale.
• Work cross-functionally with other implementation/integration engineers on a complex computer vision system.

Education & Experience

• B.S. in Computer Science or relevant fields with 5+ years of experience
• M.S. in Computer Science or relevant fields with 3+ years of experience
• PhD in Computer Science or relevant fields with 1+ years of experience

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $115,000 and $217,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
