Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional hands-on senior engineering leader who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will define technology strategy; then develop, implement, and deploy to production new and improved advertising systems and supporting capabilities. The position also involves developing a keen understanding of the ad systems’ function, to support aligning key ML and systems engineering workflows, on the critical path of business value to drive velocity in innovation. You will deliver the key ML operations, ML development tooling, and Experimentation capabilities that are business critical and integral parts of our platform and products.

Key Qualifications

• Experience in leadership roles defining technology strategy, architecture, design, implementation, and operations of ML lifecycle and Experimentation capabilities.
• Experience in some of the following domains: Algorithms, Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Database Systems, Distributed Systems, Machine Learning, Networking, Statistics, Game Theory, Marketplace Design, or other representative experience with rigorous Quantitative Analysis and Systems Software implementation.
• Track record of leading technology strategy and selection with accountability for decisions like software build vs. buy, roadmap prioritization for business value, feature definition, consumption/delivery strategies (e.g. software development kits, micro services).
• Experience defining and improving the software development lifecycle for mission critical software in the context of very large scale web applications with extreme availability requirements; including language selection, build process and strategy, quality strategy and process.
• You can lead a team to value and consistently strive to improve the operational excellence of the capabilities they are accountable for, and the larger organization.
• You have managed large scale cloud infrastructure with accountability for both cost and functional performance.
• Understanding of modern machine learning and its components.
• You have led high quality quantitative investigations to understand system and user behavior.
• You can discuss elements of experiment design from a statistical and system engineering perspective to align system features and architecture to the unique experimentation needs of the advertising system.
• You enjoy working closely with supporting teams and organizations on deployment, monitoring, and management concerns in a complex, large scale context.
• Demonstrated success in achieving outcomes dependent on building consensus advocacy with peers.
• You actively handle performance of the team reporting to you and take ownership to drive its outcomes.

You will own the team that defines, extends, and operates the ML Ops and Experimentation capabilities for our advertising platform. You will define the technology strategy for these areas by understanding how they enable the software development lifecycles of the application development teams they support, and aligning to the options from Apple, open source, and our ability build; to a roadmap of value delivery. You will build and nurture relationships with key partners across Apple critical to our success. You will craft and advocate for investment hypotheses to secure resources and deliver improvements and extended capabilities. You will be accountable for the designs, and architectural direction for these capabilities to deliver on the ad network challenges we must solve. You will lead a team of extraordinary engineers motivated to apply groundbreaking technologies to deliver extraordinary experiences to our customers. You will play a critical leadership role building products which deliver on Apple's privacy commitments and change the way advertising works with data. Pay & Benefits

• At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $242,700 and $364,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
