Key Qualifications

  • Experience managing or technically leading a machine learning or software development team
  • Proven track record leading applied machine learning projects from inception through customer delivery
  • Passionate about leveraging machine learning for on-device applications while respecting users’ privacy
  • Comfortable driving features and roadmaps in a data-driven method
  • Clear understanding of operating system concepts
  • Highly professional and collaborative with outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to deliver high quality work on tight schedules consistently

Description

Core OS is looking for extraordinary candidates to lead a development team of machine learning and systems software engineers that jointly build innovative software to automatically optimize usage of constrained resources. In this role, you will build relationships with and partner with experts across the company to solve a variety of problems and rely on your strong technical background to ramp up quickly on this frequently shifting landscape. You will be responsible for developing software roadmaps for sustainable feature development and support, balancing short- and long-term priorities, infrastructure improvements, and feature development. You’ll be asked to manage several projects concurrently, making the tough calls when necessary, track project status and deliverables, and create or refine internal team processes to improve workflows. Finally, you will drive a culture of excellence for all aspects that the team is responsible for, including data analytics, data pipelines, model training, model deployment and software optimization. In doing so, the ideal leader will demonstrate principles of inclusion, mentorship, ownership, and innovation down to the details.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $183,400 and $316,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
