Job Description

The Machine Intelligence org is looking for an exceptional Software Engineer who is passionate about incubating and deploying innovative technologies and features to millions of Apple users. As a research and development team, our charter is to prototype next-generation capabilities for Apple devices by incubating state-of-the-art technologies. We also ship next-generation features and hardware devices unlocked by those capabilities, working closely with partner product owners and their design teams. We are an elite team of engineers and scientists looking for ambitious, strong technical, and creative thinkers who can act without direction yet can also be team players. Due to the nature of the work, we seek experienced doers who can drive clarity in the midst of uncertainty, take calculated risks, and be held accountable for either delivering or failing fast if necessary.

Key Qualifications

• Excellent skills in data structures and algorithms (time and space complexity analysis, optimization, etc)
• Strong background in systems development and networking preferred
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and modify large, existing code bases.
• Skill in efficiently implementing algorithms published in technical papers and/or developing new algorithms.
• Enthusiasm for continuing to learn state-of-the-art techniques in machine learning.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Description

You must enjoy crafting compelling features, writing elegant code and creating innovative new technologies and platforms in the service of next generation user experiences. You will be contributing to features and new hardware that aims to redefine what is possible with Apple devices.

Education & Experience

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Physics or related fields.

Additional Requirements

• Experience in machine learning methods to products, features and/or services using libraries such as GraphLab Create, scikit-learn, scipy, R, NetworkX, Spacy, and NLTK.
• Experience applying deep learning methods using frameworks such as TensorFlow, mxnet, Torch, Caffe, and Kaldi.
• Strong background in at least one area of machine learning, such as deep learning, ASR, NLP, robotics, computer vision, gesture recognition, multimodal fusion, etc.
• Expertise in Python with some experience in C/C++ development.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $130,000 and $242,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
