While Clipchamp is predominantly based in Australia, Office Media Group is a global team with offices in five countries. About the Squad

The magic squad is a highly dedicated team who specialise in improving the video creation experience with automagical capabilities. They work on designing, developing, and implementing AI-based technologies to create innovative and advanced features to enhance Clipchamp’s user experience.

Clipchamp’s Technical Stack

The majority of our infrastructure is currently hosted in Google Cloud, with a plan to migrate to Microsoft equivalents. We also use Datadog for application health monitoring and Cloudflare for our content delivery network.

Our video editing experience lives completely in-browser, which means pushing the boundaries of what web technologies can do. We hold a high bar for performance and user experience and invest in unique technologies like in-browser file caching, video composition, and video encoders. 

Our frontend codebase is built on React, TypeScript, WebAssembly, ServiceWorkers, and WebGL. On the backend we use Python and are introducing C# for native apps and services. We deploy code to production daily, supported by a culture of automated testing and our dedicated engineering productivity team. 

Responsibilities

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll be: 

• Assessing the viability of integrating existing Machine Learning models into Clipchamp
• Keeping up to speed with the current academic and industry advances in Machine Learning techniques, experiment with their application to improve our domain
• Building strong working relationships across multiple internal disciplines and teams
• Continually seek deeper insights into the performance and scalability of our systems
• Promoting a growth mindset and be experienced in a wide array of machine learning techniques, with a focus on problem solving rather than a particular method or tool kit
• Collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering to deliver a delightful experience

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for: 

• Strong background in statistics, Machine Learning, and algorithms
• 5+ years’ experience with machine learning tools to build models and analyse data. (e.g. ONNX, PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
• Demonstrated software engineering skills. 

Nice to have:

• Degree in quantitative fields such as Engineering, Computer Science, and Statistics
• Experience in Data Science, and Software Development
• Experience in building data pipelines using cloud computing
• Experience with Deep Learning

Bonus points if you love: 

• Optimising performance and tracking down and fixing customer-facing issues
• Online video and contributing to the technically challenging problems we’re solving
• Maxing out what browsers can do, that’s what we’re about! We were told you can’t build a video editing platform in browser, including encoding the final video – but we did!
