Microsoft is continuously expanding its efforts in artificial intelligence. For our speech and language efforts, we are looking for an applied scientist for Sign Language and Speech. This position is located in Munich, Germany and may require (1-2 times per year) travel within Europe, India, Asia, and the United States. Responsibilities

• Train Sign Language and Speech models that directly impact millions of customers,
• Follow and contribute to cutting edge research,
• Work independently, define your own tasks and goals,

Qualifications

• Master’s in computer science, engineering, mathematics, a related area or equivalent practical experience
• Coding skills in Python, C++ or C#
• Hands on experience with machine learning algorithms or deep learning

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in computer science, engineering, mathematics, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Deep understanding of a relevant field of research (e.g. machine learning, computer vision, sign language processing, speech recognition, natural language understanding, language modeling or statistical modeling)
• Expertise with high-performance parallel computing
• Demonstrated experience with sign language processing or speech recognition systems
• Native signer
