The CO+I Critical Environment Hardware and Solutions Engineering (CEHSE) team is responsible for designing and delivering solutions to support worldwide datacenter operations. To accomplish this the team must utilize data from every aspect of our business. This work can range financial planning, to the mapping of failures rates in building level systems to the link between Air flow and Server failure.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to help meet that demand. This person should be curious, relentless, interested in peeling the onion on analysis, and looking for insights in data that can turn into actionable and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

 As a CEHSE Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, you will:

  • Engage broadly with teams to frame, structure, and prioritize business problems.
  • Mine datasets to identify information & insights that are relevant to answer key questions.
  • Design, develop, and implement visual displays of data and insights that are self-explanatory and drive actionable outcomes.
  • Collaborate and help Improve data systems and algorithms that drive business performance by providing feedback to respective business owners & data scientist teams on anomalies and gaps.
  • Work creatively with data engineers to help create and maintain systems capable of extracting detail from systems, transforming data to a common taxonomy.
  • Practice deep dives into data to find key insights that impact business, and surface actionable recommendations accordingly.
  • Enable broad use of Power BI and other Analysis tools by working with Field and local teams through education and direct engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams to develop reporting and analytics that will help drive strategic decision making and measurable outcomes.
  • Present insights and learnings to key stakeholders / executives, drive actions and impact.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

o OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in Data Engineering and Business Analytics or related field working on large scale complex programs focused on Data Integration & Analytics.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with Query languages (SQL, Kusto, Cosmos, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Documented experience with creating leadership-level views to drive actionable and strategic decision making.
  • Experience working with unstructured and structured data with a solid understanding of big data solutions.
  • Ability to communicate advanced analytics and insights to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Experience within a data center environment, manufacturing, maritime engineering, energy sector, oil and gas industry, or another type of operations environment is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate across the globe with diverse teams and be able to travel as necessary to learn and support operations in US and internationally.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and be able to tailor the message being presented depending on the audience.
  • 2+ year of industry work experience in Python or R, building and implementing statistical models and machine learning models and simulations.
  • 3+ years of experience with Power BI.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Data Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.

Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. Benefits/perks listed here may vary depending on the nature of employment with Microsoft and the country work location. U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and wellbeing benefits, among others. U.S.-based employees also receive, per calendar year, up to 10 scheduled paid holidays, and up to 80 hours Holistic Health Time Off. Additionally, hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid vacation time, and salaried/exempt employees have Discretionary Time Off (DTO).
