Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with audit, risk, and/or controls and compliance functions.
  • Experience building and maintaining models with python or other programming languages.
  • Experience working with data in Microsoft environments Azure Blob, Dataverse, and Dynamics.
  • Experience working with Microsoft analytic and data science tools including SQL Server, Azure AI Search (formerly Cognitive Search), and Power BI.
  • Deep cross-organizational leadership and influence skills.

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scope a portfolio of Compliance projects. Outline alternative approaches and identify pros, cons, risks and provide recommended approaches. 
  • Leverage business expertise to analyze problems, drive strategy and recommend improvements.
  • Independently write efficient, readable code/models. Develop expertise in proper modeling, coding, and/or debugging techniques such as locating, isolating, and resolving errors and/or defects.
  • Identify data sources, integrate multiple sources or types of data, apply expertise within a data source to develop methods to compensate for limitations and extend the applicability of data.
  • Validate, monitor, and drive continuous improvement to methods, and propose enhancements to data sources that improve usability and results.
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and advances to drive innovation and develop new solutions, including current and emerging methodologies in automation, AI, and ML.
  • Interpret data and communicate/simplify concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Engage with Financial Experiences Engineering team, Finance, Data, Experiences (FDE), and other engineering and Finance groups within Microsoft to develop innovative solutions.
  • Support and educate citizen developers with limited coding experience.
