Are you interested in AI and machine learning technology, especially involving speech and language? Are you an expert in deep learning or willing to learn those advance techniques used in Cloud+AI products and services from Microsoft? As one of Microsoft’s most exciting AI initiatives, speech recognition is driving the accuracy and robustness of natural user interfaces with natural spoken language and their deep integration to user facing produce/service from Microsoft 1st party or 3rd party application. The Cognitive Speech Group develops speech recognition features for multiple languages in Enterprise, Entertainment and Desktop and Mobile products and particularly in the voice platform that powers Microsoft 365 Search and Assistant experience on desktop and mobile computing devices such as Cortana Assistant, Team Captioning, Bing voice search, Microsoft Office and Windows dictation, Skype speech to speech translation, etc.

Responsibilities

Our group brings together talents in the areas of signal processing, speech and speaker recognition, statistical modeling and deep learning to develop and deliver robust, natural and scalable speech recognition, across a rich set of scenarios and languages. It is also in need of talents who are experienced in information retrieve, natural language processing, search and personal digital assistant technology to help integrate the world and personal knowledge into speech technology/product for best understanding of users’ intents.

Essential attributes and competencies include: Excellence in scientific thinking and execution, ability to drive efficient experiment definition and investigations, solid skill in developing state-of-the-art machine learning and SR algorithms, broad scope in solving SR related engineering problems, and passion for new UI paradigms incorporating speech technologies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• MS or PhD Degree in CS/EE
• 3+ years experience in speech recognition or machine learning or NLP R&D in an academic or industrial setting (MS/PhD research experience counted).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven track record of delivering strong results with high quality, especially the machine learning related tasks.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience with speech recognition/speaker recognition/audio processing.
