You have a bias for action and are very comfortable in ambiguity. You have an inherent ability to synthesize disparate inputs into actionable frameworks, solutions and ultimate drive to results. You will combine financial, data science, management, and technical know-how to address these business issues.You have deep insight into business operations and have driven strategic initiatives across R&D and Operations, preferably in a complex, large scale company. You thrive in data analysis, identifying leading benchmarks, influencing senior executives and managing successful workplans to deliver demonstrable change across the enterprise.This role will report into the VP Global Sustainability Supply Chain and VP Global Quality Assurance. In this Role, You Will:•Collaborate with senior leadership to shape cross-functional corporate priorities focused initially on understanding our current usage of PFAS in our products.•Set up a governance structure across our groups to drive the identification and elimination of PFAS and eventually any other materials of concerns where applicable.•Identify PFAS in all applicable purchased materials (chemicals, resins, articles, finished goods) and work with the responsible procurement team on a phased approach involving our suppliers.•Identify opportunities with R&D for “PFAS-Free” alternatives as well as strategic and/or tactical partnerships. Build a R&D workstream working with CSO office.•Complete lagging efforts to build out complex article BOMs within our technology platform and identify alternatives•Work with our businesses to build testing capacity (where needed) to identify PFAS or any other materials of concern where applicable.•Work with functional leaders to assess models/governance systems to support sustainability requirements relating to materials of concern in products.•Work with IT and Product compliance team to set up standard processes for managing going forward.•Build and manage a portfolio of strategic projects; formulate, define and prioritize projects based on business needs.•Build schedules and workload to ensure on-time and on-budget completion of projects.•Create a critical metric cadence, tracking, measurement, reporting.Here's What You Need:•BS in Engineering. MBA is strongly preferred.•15+ years of total work experience; at least 5 at a senior leadership level.•Strong ability to compile, analyze and present data, findings, and progress in a concise manner.•Ability to think and pivot between strategic and tactical actions; persistent attention to detail, and ability to lead and flourish through ambiguity.•Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills. Able to interact effortlessly with senior leaders, junior team members, and outside professional advisors, with the ability to calibrate based on the audience.•Confident leading meetings with executive stakeholders, making and influencing decisions, documenting progress, and resolving issues quickly and collaboratively.•Experience managing and working with global virtual teams.•Collaborative, team player with positive attitude and creative problem solving.•Must be a well-balanced leader who can roll up their sleeves and focus on the detail while also grasping and supporting the big picture.•Expert understanding of engineering procedures while looking beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to define and resolve complex problems.•Conduct business and technical briefings for senior and top management and for external representativesAt Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 125,000 extraordinary minds have a unique story to tell.
