DUTIES:

  • Manage a team of data scientists by developing and expanding team skills.
  • Provide leadership in career development.
  • Project management by aligning skills with tasks, scheduling and prioritization.
  • Develop standards and process for operations.
  • Work closely with team to accomplish goals and review progress.
  • Manage upwards by aligning management goals and expectations.
  • Data mine and maintain the database of over 10 million samples.
  • Manage analysis of on market product performance and provide guidance to new product development.
  • Provide prototype analysis for future software product features.
  • Use data from clinical samples to assess root cause analysis of issues detected in the field, manufacturing or in R&D.
  • Develop surveillance and monitoring techniques for assay product performance.
  • Develop surveillance and monitoring techniques for epidemiology.
  • Develop digital roadmap for collecting additional clinical data across a broad array of products.
  • Publish results and findings in peer reviewed journals.
  • Provide industry guidance through public organizations and agencies.
  • POSITION SUPERVISES: 7 employees in the positions of: (1) Sr. Staff Scientist, Data Science, (2) Scientist III, Research and Development, (1) Sr. Staff Scientist, Research and Development, (1) Engineer III, Software Development, and (2) Staff Scientist, Data Science.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field of study plus 3 years in data science management, or related experience. Employer also accepts a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience as an equivalent alternative.

Must have experience or knowledge of:

  • Leading teams in clinical diagnostics;
  • Data analysis, statistical modeling, and classifiers;
  • Data structures and common methods in data transformation;
  • Pattern recognition and predictive modeling;
  • Programming in C++, Java or Python;
  • Utilizing Matlab, JMP, R, or SPSS;
  • qPCR and amplification curve data;
  • Multiplex assay design and development.

TRAVEL: Up to 2% domestic and international travel required.

SALARY: $221,737.16-$249,500/year

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $221,737.16–$249,500.00.
