Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

Role Responsibilities:  

  • Support analytical development and analytical testing on microscopy for dimensional analysis for optical /laser scanning microscopes, visual inspection, and related image analysis automation.
  • Complete experimental plan and analytical testing to support analytical and process development for FTIR, DSC, TGA, Porosity, and mechanical testing.
  • Maintaining and ensuring laboratory instrumentation for microscope and associated software.
  • Develop and optimize test methods, demonstrate technological feasibility, and characterize material and assembled device products, employing multiple analytical methods.
  • Report on project progress, provide data for reports with appropriate statistical analysis.
  • Support proof of concept studies in collaboration with R&D, PD, and PAT partner groups.
  • Maintain analytical lab instrumentation, handle lab reagents, ensure appropriate calibration is carried out.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analytical data generated.
  • Maintain excellent written documentation (e.g., lab notebook and test forms).
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and trend assay performance.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, material science, polymer science, or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proficient with smart vision microscopy systems, optical/laser microscopy methods, development and deployment of image analysis machine learning algorithms, dimensional/measurement analysis microscopy systems, and x-ray computed tomography.
  • Hands-on experience with some of the following methods: visual inspection, mechanical material characterization (e.g., tensile, and cyclic testing of soft and hard materials, surface characterization, electron microscopy (SEM-EDS), FTIR, TGA, DSC, and porosity characterization.
  • Excellent collaboration, ideation, and prototyping skills, including facilitating troubleshooting /brainstorming sessions, developing proof of concepts, working prototypes, and conducting functional testing.
  • Experience with design of experiments, statistical analysis, and GMP data recording in electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with mechanical testing including, but not limited to, tensile/compression testing.
  • Hands-on experience with few of the following methods: mechanical material characterization (e.g., tensile and cyclic testing of soft and hard materials, surface characterization, electron microscopy (SEM-EDS), FTIR, TGA, DSC, and porosity characterization.
  • Excellent collaboration, conceptualization, and prototyping skills, including facilitating troubleshooting /brainstorming sessions, developing proof of concepts, working prototypes, and conducting functional testing.
  • Experience with design of experiments, statistical analysis, and GMP data recording in electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Background in implantable device design and analytical testing.
  • Working knowledge of dimensional/measurement analysis microscopy systems, and x-ray computed tomography, smart vision microscopy systems, machine learning, and porosity characterization

  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.
