Job Description

DUTIES:

  • Develop new products in the area of Infectious Diseases.
  • Work closely with scientists from other R&D teams and analyze data from new assay products, based primarily on real time PCR and sequencing.
  • Work with a variety of genomes, including bacteria, fungal, virus and protozoan and be able to analyze these in depth.
  • Support new products from conception to commercialization, and work with a development team consisting of lab scientists, product managers, and program managers.
  • Give frequent data presentations to both bioinformatics experts, other members of the larger development team as well as management.
  • Guide customers and field application specialists and answer questions on newly developed as well as other related products. Develop webpages and maintain SQL databases.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Doctorate degree in Life and Health Sciences, Bioinformatics, Biology, or related field of study plus 3 years of scientific research and development working with a variety of genomes, or related occupations/experience. Employer also accepts a Master’s degree plus 5 years of experience as an equivalent alternative.

Must have experience or knowledge of:

  • SQL;
  • Data mining and data analysis using Python and R;
  • Development of statistical analysis pipelines and machine learning predictive models;
  • Shell scripting, including computational clusters;
  • Bash Bioinformatic tools;
  • Expertise in metagenomic analyses;
  • Linux;
  • Analyzing sequence data;
  • Public domain data sources, including NCBI, genbank, taxonomy, and genomes; and
  • Microbiology expertise in microbial genomics, taxonomy and common infectious diseases.
  • TRAVEL: Up to 5% travel required (international).

SALARY: $144,050-$208,700/year

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $144,050.00–$208,700.00.
