Job Description
In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of SARS-CoV-2 virus or enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the biggest production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering and logistics among us.
What are we focused on:
The application software team in Brno is responsible for the development of automation/application software for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). We wok on an automated TEM imaging system using automation. This innovative solution removes the barriers to automation by enabling semiconductor labs to automatically acquire and measure critical dimensions on semiconductor devices during development or in support of manufacturing. Our applications have been primarily developed in C#.Net with WPF as UI on Windows platform by distributed scrum teams. In addition to .Net, Machine Learning part has been mostly written in Python.
What projects will you work on:
- as part of an agile scrum team, you will be working in a distributed software environment, combining different technologies (mostly C#/WPF/Python)
- collaborate with the product owner, domain specialists, and other developers, also multi-site to slice out the simplest, quickest ways to deliver value to customers
- decompose sophisticated problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
- use Test Driven Development and Pair/Ensemble Programming to safely implement solutions, end to end
- promote and drive adoption of good software development practices in code and infrastructure health, quality, test stability, and maintainability
- mentor and learn from others
- collaborate on technical decision making with developers and other team members and document the context behind those decisions
- regularly reflect on how to help the team be more effective
- learn TEM domain specific knowledge and operation to test software on a TEM
- work together with different software (scrum) teams, also multi-site
Who do we look for:
- you enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment to solve sophisticated software team challenges
- at least 5 years’ experience in object-oriented development in a complex / technical high-tech environment
- up-to-date knowledge and proven hands-on experience of C# is a must. Experience with WPF, ASP.net / Web / REST API development is highly welcomed
- excellent problem-solving abilities: you should be able to describe a few of the hardest problems you have solved and exactly how you managed them
- experience in Test Driven Development and related technical practices
- experience with AI, Machine Learning including Deep Convolutional Neural Networks, Docker container on Linux platform, Kubernetes, Image processing or related is a plus
- Python and C++ hands on experience is the advantage
- comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
