Job Description

We are looking for Principal algorithm engineer/architect for Autonomous Vehicles to do online mapping. In this role, you will help craft and guide the future of our autonomous driving solution that helps the car perceive the world around it and build the 3D model of the driving environment. We seek extraordinary engineers who are passionate about building self-driving cars and who have a background in sensor fusion, multi-view geometry, and embedded real-time software. Are you interested in inventing human level AI for navigation in the unconstrained world under any conditions? If so, join us!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Generate real-time 3D world model utilized by planning, incorporating a variety of inputs from sensors and external sources.
  • Enable HD mapless driving in complex urban scenarios by creating enriched BEV models of the world.
  • Design and integrate algorithmic solutions into the core of NVIDIA AV.
  • Write safe embedded software code to run in real-time systems.
  • Develop highly efficient product code in C++ and make use of algorithmic parallelism offered by GPGPU programming (CUDA).
  • Produce code and designs following automotive quality and safety standards.

What We Need To See:

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s / PhD in Computer Science or a related field with 15+ years of experience.
  • Software industry experience.
  • Strong C++ development skills.
  • Passion for robotics and autonomous vehicles.
  • Drive to learn new things and tackle meaningful problems.
  • Outstanding communication and cross-team collaboration.
  • Independent and analytical software engineering skills.
  • Ability to work in both Chinese and English languages.
  • Software development on embedded or automotive platforms.

Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd:

  • Technical leadership for a 5+ person team and architecture design experience with strong API and framework design skills.
  • Background in 3D geometry, computer vision, or state estimation algorithms like Kalman filters, particle filters.
  • Understanding of ADASISv2 as well as crowdsourced maps and geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Runtime optimization of code using profilers.
  • Experience with CUDA parallel programming.

We believe that building self-driving vehicles will be a defining contribution of our generation (e.g. traffic accidents are responsible for ~1.25 million deaths per year world-wide). We have the funding and scale, but we need your help on our team. NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world’s most desirable employers with some of the most forward-thinking people in the world working here.
