Job Description

NVIDIA is leading the way groundbreaking advances in Artificial Intelligence, High-Performance Computing and Visualization. The GPU, our invention, serves as the visual cortex of modern computers and is at the heart of our products and services. Our work opens up new universes to explore, enables amazing creativity and discovery, and powers what were once science fiction inventions from artificial intelligence to autonomous cars. NVIDIA is looking for outstanding professionals to help us accelerate the next wave of computing.

Join our team of innovative engineers who develop and maintain software facilitating GPU communication, driving groundbreaking solutions in High Performance Computing and Deep Learning. We're looking for highly motivated GPU-technologies-fluent technical writers to produce and curate a portfolio of collateral to support NVIDIA’s internal software-development teams. Goals of the portfolio include the archiving of testing-HW/cluster designs, the boosting of SW-development efficiency through the standardization of HW/cluster-usage methodologies, and the coalescing of distributed informal documentation efforts into a single authoritative repository. In this role, you’ll work closely with engineers that construct, operate and maintain large GPU software-testing clusters interconnected via NVLink and InfiniBand, document the cluster-design-decisions of these engineers, and record the testing workflows that the clusters were designed to efficiently support.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Document new software-testing clusters as they are being developed and deployed.
  • Create documentation plans and schedules, and verify alignment with cluster deployment and user-needs schedules.
  • Drive technical review processes in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Partner closely with software engineers and cluster engineers to research, scope, and run documentation projects.
  • Organize, curate and maintain on-line archive of documents related to software-testing clusters and their usage.
  • Collect queries and feedback from software engineers, and update/improve documents on an on-going basis.
  • Your responsibilities also include researching technical information and interacting closely with engineering resources dispersed globally. May also prepare illustrations, diagrams, and charts.
  • Some documents will become important base materials for later customer-facing collateral.

What we need to see:

Expertise in writing and/or editing original and highly technical user documentation, resulting in polished and professional final documentation packages for advanced engineering professionals. Your examples may include user guides, API references, release notes, installation guides, and getting started guides.

  • We prefer that you possess some computer programming experience and/or extensive experience documenting APIs in various types of pseudo-code.
  • Familiarity with GPU-usage terminology, networking terminology, server-cluster architecture terminology, and data-center physical-plant terminology is required.
  • 5+ years technical writing experience, preferably in an enterprise-level product company with an emphasis on technical user documentation.
  • Skills for supporting multiple projects and multi-tasking.
  • BA/BS in Technical Communications, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience with the detailed description of server-cluster and networking architectures.
  • Experience in the production of quick-start guides for advanced server products.
  • Track record for rooting-out “tribal” knowledge spread across large teams and consolidating into tight descriptions of core concepts, and best practices.
  • Track record of working effectively with developers and engineers from a mix of disciplines (hardware, software, networking, datacenter, etc), spread across a variety of time zones.
  • Solid understanding of Perforce, Github, Gitlab, Gerrit, or similar systems
