Job Description

The candidate should have a strong background in one or more aspects of the data analytics pipeline, with hands on Systems Engineering for data analytics pipeline development. The position will support the Systems Engineering Analytics Department. The successful candidate will be a key part of the management team and a thought leader within the department. This position will be responsible for serving as a direct supervisor for 8 to 11 staff members with a diverse skill base in data analytics pipeline development. This position will focus on the development and deployment of machine learning models into the pipeline. The candidate will work closely with department members in a collaborative working environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, results-oriented professional. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recruiting and hiring world class talent with a focus on data analytics pipeline design and deployment, including data discovery and harvesting, data ingest, data curation, ML/DL/AI, and data export, including UI and API development and deployment.
  • Work across the corporation developing and cultivating trust within the MPS and MNS division leadership.
  • Key contributor in the development of data driven products, work shaping and product/deliverable generation with a focus on creating opportunities for group project teaming.
  • Identify and hire new talent, including interns and early career employees.
  • Develop work opportunities for group members.

Find meaningful direct project work for group members.

  • Mentor early and midcareer tech staff to better prepare of promotion and career growth.
  • Lead the group in support of department and division goals, focusing on growing work, growing staff, and growing the organization.
  • Set the standard for leadership, demonstrating exemplary traits for improving morale and improving the work climate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Business/Data Analytics, or Systems Engineering or related field and 8+ years of related data analytics pipeline experience including 2 years of leadership experience or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US government clearance
  • Knowledge and experience with data discovery techniques, data collection techniques, data preparation and curation, data management and modeling tools, database system design, relational and graph database theory, ML/AI/DL techniques, data visualization, and API development and fielding.
  • Proven track record conducting advanced research and development in data analytics pipeline design using proven system engineering, AI, ML, and DL principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership by servitude (servant leader principles).
  • Demonstrated track record of exemplifying MITRE core values of speed, adaptability, collaboration, and grace & respect.
  • Familiar with managing projects/programs and project management tools.
  • Training and experience in a formal data science program (completed or ongoing).
  • Proven track record of teaching and mentoring early career data professionals.
  • Results-oriented, capable of delegation and providing effective oversight.
  • Able to lead a project, implementing staff expansion, using a project teaming-based approach.
  • Skilled communicator
  • Track record of credibility with management and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference given to candidates with experience as a TL/deputy TL, PL/deputy PL, or GL/Deputy GL at MITRE.
  • Ability to collaboratively develop and expand the community of interest in analytics as applied from a system engineering perspective.
  • Experienced in applying ML and NLP solutions.
  • Capable of creating a vision, gaining consensus, establishing a plan, and motivating team members towards productive outcomes.
