The Agile Engineering and Innovation Dept has an opportunity for a creative Senior / Lead DevSecOps Engineer.
This position is located in San Diego.
You will work across a wide range of projects and collaborate across MITRE’s Software Engineering Innovation Center to help solve problems for our sponsors. You will use your wide breadth of knowledge in modern software delivery techniques such as Agile and DevSecOps. The ideal candidate will have the curiosity to learn & explore emerging technology and have a passion to apply these skills to solving problems for a safer world.

Specific responsibilities will include:
- Crafting comprehensive solutions as a full stack developer involving frontend and backend applications and services
- Evaluating critical systems, identifying process improvements, act as an Agile Change Agent, and leverage Agile metrics for program and product improvement
- Formulating & delivering actionable recommendations to apply Agile practices for real time improvement
- Work as an individual contributor and/or be part of a team developing and delivering both prototype and production software
- Build, administer and manage processes that introduce DevSecOps concepts of testing, prototyping, security, automation, etc
- Treat all challenges as opportunities to learn, excel and deliver state of the art solutions to solve nation’s problems
Required for Consideration:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics or other related STEM major and 5+ years related software development experience
- Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining & maintaining a DoD clearance.
- Documented success applying DevSecOps concepts in both developing new systems and improving existing systems.
- Experience must include continuous integration and continuous deployment toolchains and cloud platforms to automate the software development lifecycle
- Hands on proficiency using tools and languages like Python, Ruby, Go, Java, MySQL, MongoDB, Git
- Thorough understanding of architecting and automating cloud native technologies; provisioning IaC, IaaS, or SaaS; and deploying applications
- Demonstrated success with Agile practices and frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in applicable technical field
- Preference given to qualified candidates with an active clearance.
- Experience with Chef, Puppet or Ansible and Docker-Compose in production environments
