The Data and Human-Centered Solutions Innovation Center of MITRE Labs is looking for early career professionals who have a strong interest in addressing and solving challenges related to capturing, managing, and sharing data supporting decision making and transforming mission processes. You will join a department of data management practitioners who collectively have experience across many data management domains.

Working with experienced project teams and under the guidance of data management mentors, project tasks may include:

  • Developing data requirements documentation
  • Performing source-to-target data mappings
  • Documenting and implementing data transformation rules to meet the requirements for system interfaces and data integration projects
  • Supporting stakeholder interviews
  • Supporting systems acquisition, planning, design, and evaluation
  • Developing prototypes; and performing data analytics and research
  • Researching and evaluating data management tools and technologies
  • Participating in knowledge sharing and best practices through MITRE-led Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), workshops, research, and platform development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and several years of applied experience in data analytics, research, IT modernization, and/or information exchange; or a Master’s degree
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US government clearance
  • Strong problem-solving, system thinking, planning, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience working in teams
  • Experience manipulating datasets and creating data pipelines with at least one modern programming language or business intelligence platform like Python, SAS, MATLAB, C++, R, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in developing and applying data management domain skills to organizational, system, and data sharing related challenges and concerns
  • Experience with databases technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Neo4j)
  • Experience with data-related standards such as National Information Exchange Model (NIEM), Health Level 7 (HL7) Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and knowledge of data management policy (e.g., HIPAA Privacy Rule)
  • Experience analyzing data quality and performing predictive analytics
  • Experience developing visualizations with multi-dimensional data using tools like Tableau, Qlik, or D3.js
  • Experience understanding and/or defining data requirements through Conceptual, Logical and/or Physical Data Modelling, with knowledge of leading vendor (e.g., Cerner, EPIC) or industry data models (e.g., OMOP).
