MITRE’s Data and Human-Centered Solutions Tech Center is a Corporate resource with technical capabilities in collaboration and social computing, data analytics, data management, integration and interoperability, geospatial analytic solutions, and social and behavioral sciences. We work across the breadth of MITRE’s government sponsors and stakeholders to provide data and human-centered solutions to our sponsor’s most critical mission challenges.

The Data Management, Integration & Interoperability Department will provide you with challenging opportunities to expand your experience and knowledge to solve our nation's most critical data management problems! We are looking for highly motivated, adaptive, and enthusiastic candidates with a wide variety of interests and a foundation of skills in systems engineering, software engineering, information systems, or data management. You will join a department of data management practitioners that collectively have experience across many data management domains.

We are seeking associate level candidates that have a strong interest in learning and contributing to teams addressing challenges related to capturing, managing, and sharing data supporting decision making and enabling mission processes. Working with experienced project teams and under the guidance of data management mentors, project tasks may include:

  • Reviewing data requirements documentation
  • Collecting and integrating project data
  • Profiling project data sources
  • Preparing data and conducting data analysis
  • Development services to improve data management
  • Migrating data to the Cloud
  • Supporting stakeholder interviews
  • Researching and evaluating data management tools and technologies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, software engineering, information systems, or a data management related discipline
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD clearance

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience manipulating datasets with at least one modern programming language or business intelligence platform like Python, SAS, MATLAB, C++, R, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL.
  • Familiarity with of all phases of the Software or Systems Development Life Cycles.
  • Strong problem-solving, system thinking, planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience working in teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Visio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in developing and applying data management domain skills to organizational, system, and data sharing related challenges and concerns
  • Previous Co-Op or Internship experience
  • Coursework or familiarity:
    • Performing data and process analysis
    • Working with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Neo4j)
    • Applying statistical analysis methods and tools
    • Visualizing multi-dimensional data using tools like Tableau, Qlik, or D3.js
    • Understanding of Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Modelling
    • Performing source to target data mapping and implementation
