Job Description

MITRE's Enterprise Design, Discovery & AI Department is seeking a team member who is passionate about artificial intelligence (AI) to help us revolutionize knowledge reuse within MITRE. This person will work closely with the business to understand search/information needs. They will also work closely with the internal teams (IT, security, accounts administration, etc.) to ensure that all efforts are fully integrated. The position requires strong organizational and time management skills as individuals work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects. Successful candidates must be strategic but also hands-on, with excellent communication skills.

If hired, you will support MITRE's artificial intelligence and machine learning work as part of our Intelligent Enterprise strategy. You will interact closely with a host of technical developers and operational support staff. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service are both required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding MITRE’s business needs
  • Implementing performant AI systems based on open source and commercial solutions
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting technical issues related to AI systems including challenges with data, access, security/permissions
  • Analyzing performance data, formulating insights, and translating them to actionable next steps
  • Leading functional testing of search and AI solutions
  • Communicating with leadership to influence change, and end users to ensure adoption of enterprise search and AI solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, including specialization in an Al-related field of study, or related job experience
  • 2+ years of experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, data engineering, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Machine Learning (ML)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon SageMaker, the IBM Watson Suite, Elastic, or SOLR
  • Hands-on experience using tools such as Python, TensorFlow, AWS, Doc2Vec, etc.
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills - able to explain difficult concepts using simple language and graphics
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems
  • Propensity for accuracy and attention to detail
