MITRE’s Corporate IT Division is seeking a Cloud Software Manager to lead the planning and successful migration to the cloud for some of MITRE’s most critical corporate IT initiatives which enable MITRE’s Intelligent Enterprise Strategy. This exciting cloud architect and management opportunity crosses multiple domains within the IT profession and involves collaboration across the corporate IT Division and with the greater MITRE community to ensure appropriate re-architecture and optimization of our critical IT Products. The Programs and Projects enabling MITRE’s Intelligent Enterprise Strategy represent large, complex, and rewarding cloud strategy with high visibility and potential across MITRE.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assess the current state of MITRE’s application development landscape and identify opportunities for cloud migration, application re-architecture, and optimization.
  • Help in building a comprehensive cloud strategy that aligns with business objectives.
  • Conduct cloud-readiness assessments, gap analyses and feasibility studies to determine the best cloud approach for all development engagements.
  • Develop cloud application architecture strategies and roadmaps that align with the MITRE’s business objectives and requirements.
  • Define the cloud vision, goals, and principles for MITRE from a perspective of application development, deployment, and integration.
  • Act as champion of cloud adoption strategy to other department leaders
  • Create high-level and detailed cloud application architecture diagrams and documents.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud applications/solutions using Azure services and industry best practices
  • Select the appropriate Azure services and tools for MITRE’s needs and configure, deploy, and integrate them with the existing IT systems
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to the portfolio team and ensure compliance with cloud standards and policies
  • Understand complexities of government cloud management
  • Mentor and coach team members on cloud technologies and methodologies and oversee the quality and performance of cloud application development activities
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in cloud technologies and share knowledge and best practices with the team
  • Research and evaluate new Azure features and services and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement or innovation.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years of experience in cloud application architecture, design, and implementation using Azure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Fitness/Suitability DHS - EOD Granted IT Medium (or higher) Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, principles, architectures, services, security, governance, compliance, operations, automation, orchestration, monitoring, optimization, migration, disaster recovery, and business continuity
  • A strong knowledge of Azure services, such as Microsoft Entra IT (Azure Active Directory), Azure Virtual Machines, Azure storage, Azure networking, Azure app service, Azure functions, Azure logic apps, Azure API management, Azure Kubernetes service, Azure service bus, Azure event grid, Azure event hubs, Azure cosmos DB, Azure SQL database, Azure synapse analytics, Azure data factory, Azure data lake storage, Azure databricks, Azure machine learning service, Azure cognitive services, Azure DevOps services, Azure monitor, Azure security center, and Azure sentinel
  • A proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as C#, Java, or Python; scripting languages, such as PowerShell or Bash; and infrastructure as code languages, cush as Terraform or Bicep/ARM
  • A familiarity with various development tools, such as Visual Studio and Gitlab, as well as various frameworks, such as .NET Core and Spring Boot
  • A certification in one or more of the following: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert; Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate; and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Ability to think creatively and be driven by opportunities to continually improve.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including collaborating, influencing, and flexible team working.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Must be highly flexible, organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, team building skills, and experience directing cross functional technical teams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence Senior Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience with Machine Language and Generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, others)
  • Preferred Active Secret clearance
