Job Description

  • As part of a global team within Global Brand Security, the Data Science Engineer will report directly to the Fraud Prevention & Investigation Director. The successful candidate will provide advanced data science and data engineering expertise to the fraud investigation program. They will design, develop, and maintain data solutions and lead projects that help detect and prevent fraud and non-compliance relating to HP products. The role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams worldwide and providing direction and guidance to colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with peers and other data experts to design and develop complex, secure, and efficient data solutions and models. Includes design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration of structured and unstructured data.
  • Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with architecture, security and quality guidelines and standards; provide tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
  • Develop a deep understanding of HP's data ecosystem to leverage existing capabilities and define new requirements for fraud detection.
  • Drive innovation and integration of new technologies and practices into projects and activities in the big data space.
  • Define and implement models to uncover fraud patterns and predictions, creating business value and innovation.
  • Apply knowledge of AI and ML to define data products, schemas, and models to automate scalable data solutions.
  • Identify new opportunities for data acquisition, technologies, and partner collaborations to bring value to the business and data science domain.
  • Communicate data science insights regularly and effectively, reviewing designs, models, accuracy, and data compliance.
  • Maintain proficiency within the data science domain by keeping up with technology and trend shifts.
  • Provide guidance and training to HP staff and contracted resources.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive experience with data engineering tools and programming languages. Ability to write, debug, and optimize data pipelines.
  • Strong SQL skills and production experience working with databases such as Postgres and Vertica.
  • Strong knowledge of Python such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikitlearn, and TensorFlow.
  • Experience with web frameworks such as flask.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies like Spark.
  • Knowledge of data science concepts and use of AI and Machine Learning.
  • Experience with visualization tools like PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, data insights and design proposals.
  • Understanding of data compliance and privacy standards on data capture and usage.
  • Strong project management skills, ideally in Agile methodology.
  • Strong business acumen and business process understanding.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • 6-10 years’ experience, including graduate or postgraduate research.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile Certification is a plus.
