The Director, Membership & Marketing Analytics serves as a key strategic partner to the cross-functional team and oversees development and application of marketing analytics capabilities by leading Analytics while partnering closely with the Business, Product & Technology teams (4-in-a-box structure). This position has the overall responsibility of providing business intelligence & insights to business stakeholders in Sam’s Club Membership & Marketing. Leading and developing a team of analytics, forecasting and data science professionals, partnering with business stakeholders to address business questions and business needs with data and insights. 

As a Director of Membership & Marketing Analytics, you’ll make an impact through:

Business Thought Partnership: Provide thought leadership and counsel to stakeholders in defining the problem statement, exploring possible solutions to address business questions. Translate business requirements into strategies, initiatives and projects, align them to business strategy and objectives. 

Membership Strategy: Lead a team responsible for forecasting membership KPIs on a monthly basis, matching actual performance against the forecast, and providing Macro/Micro insights to the business teams and leadership in order to understand drivers of performance relative to goals.

Analytic solution / business insights development: Lead the connection to the Membership and Marketing teams, to enable end-to-end (i.e. pre to post launch) understanding of campaigns.

Measurement Methodologies: Identify proactive opportunities to evolve measurement methodologies to enable teams to move more efficiently and effectively, and lead these measurement initiatives across Marketing (e.g. forecasting, Marketing Mix, Promotion effectiveness planning, etc.).

Partner with Marketing and CRM: Identify spend optimization opportunities across channels based on Attribution models and ROI.

Developing high-performance team: Train and develop reporting team on technical and professional skills. Conduct on-the-job training for staffs. Role model company’s value and inspire leadership. Guide and coach reporting team on career development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, analytics, data science, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in roles focused on adding value through building analytical solutions and products for complex, cross functional business problems.
  • Knowledge of high-end analytical tools for forecasting, attribution and marketing mix models
  • Passion for understanding business challenges and delivering solid solutions.
  • Experienced in taking complex data and information from reporting teams and synthesizing into meaningful insights and clear story for leadership in PowerPoint.
  • Excellent planning and project management skills.
  • A highly motivated leader with the ability to devise solutions in unstructured situations.
  • Succeeds in fast-moving environment, effectively balancing a variety of fast-turn deliverables, working with various constituents.
  • Retail industry experience will be a plus.

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 6 years' experience in an analytics related field.

Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.

Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field
