What you'll do...

Walmart's US Tech Organization is starting to think greenfield in its approach towards building the best in class next-gen customer and Walmart associate (employee) experiences both on the web and mobile. We help bring a seamless experience to our customers irrespective of how and where they engage with us – while shopping online or picking groceries at stores. We operate at the intersection of a vast Walmart assortment, millions of customers, thousands of stores, and Walmart associates. This multi-layer multi-objective problem space uniquely impacts the global customer base and powers assisted AI for our associates. The Consumer Engineering team consists of big data geeks, application engineers, scientists, and product visionaries working together to design, prototype, and build technology-driven products and experiences that will change the future landscape of e-commerce. We are focused on building an intelligent system, from finding the product to delivering it to the customer.

We are looking for a Distinguished Data Scientist who has a track record of architecting & building scalable frameworks, platforms, and infrastructure. You will be building state-of-the-art probabilistic models and engineering marvels to serve our customer needs by leveraging cutting-edge machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, entity-relationship extraction, and knowledge representation. This will span many markets, business models, and form factors; therefore, we are looking for scientists and engineers who will bring not only an abundance of experiences in technologies but an abundant curiosity to innovate.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Being proficient with Advanced algorithms for application in data modeling and data pipeline optimizations. They will require to stay updated with the latest technologies being used within the Consumer Engineering team.
  • Contributing to a team of talented Software engineers and analysts to design, implement, test, and launch omnichannel experiences.
  • The individual will work with other team members in the Consumer Engineering team and data engineering scrum teams to deliver critical projects in FY22.
  • Actively contributing to the research community through participation at conferences, seminars, workshops, university relations.
  • Collaborating with product and engineers to deliver end-to-end scalable cross-functional projects.

You'll sweep us off our feet if you:?

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the following Programming Languages: Java, Python, Bash, Spark (SQL, Streaming), Hadoop Map-Reduce experience. Build Manager (Maven), Distributed Version Control (GIT), Continuous Integration (Jenkins) experience.
  • Have proficient knowledge and experience with Kafka Queues, Cassandra, Solr, Elastic Search, SQL
  • Solid DevOps skills in troubleshooting live applications, assessing performance bottlenecks of applications running on containers.
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, reinforcement models, and Tensor flow is a plus.
