Walmart Connect is seeking an experienced leader to run Yield Strategy and Monetization in our San Bruno, CA or Hoboken, NJ office. We are looking for an individual who sets a vision and realizes that vision through a combination of strategic and operational chops. You love digging into data, troubleshooting, learning new technologies and solving difficult problems. As the Director of Yield, you will be responsible for looking for new and creative ways to maximize revenue of our ad products across all of WMC’s Display, Search and In-store properties. As a member of the Walmart Connect team, you will work alongside groups of industry experts in a rapidly and exponentially growing business.

You will partner closely with Campaign Optimization, Sales Center of Excellence, Revenue Operations, Business Operations, Product and Sales to roll-out new products, features, and integrations. You will become an expert in Walmart's omni-channel solution, using Walmart’s proprietary data, to create the right pricing strategy and strive to get accurate inventory forecasts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, leadership, manage and run the Yield Management team
  • Provide ongoing support for monetization through pricing strategy development, price guidance enforcement, inventory management, support for new systems integrations, monetization analysis/strategy efforts and beyond
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners including Campaign Optimization, Creative, Sales Center of Excellence, Revenue Operations, Business Operations, Product and Sales
  • Interface with management at all levels of seniority to identify trends and drive initiatives related to pricing, inventory management and ad product development
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups including Revenue Ops, Product, Strategy, Sales and Finance to identify pricing and revenue opportunities
  • Create business and pricing rules based on market value, inventory supply/demand, targeting, etc.
  • Manage inventory allocation and pricing function for all ad products and sponsorships
  • Employ in-depth understanding of ad functionality, availability/supply and demand, and delivery mechanism to establish market rate card and pricing of custom ad packages
  • Analyze seller behavior to identify trends and optimize pricing
  • Partner with Campaign Optimization and Campaign Management to make optimization trade-offs and define prioritization process
  • Analyze and understand inventory levers and patterns
  • Identify new ways to grow inventory with our data-focused/audience-driven business
  • Collaborate with the WMC teams to provide inventory (supply) dashboards and highlight revenue risks proactively
  • Establish team goals and work with direct reports to execute, measure progress, and share results
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performance team of Yield specialists
  • Establish team goals and KPIs and motivate your team to execute, measure progress, and share results
  • Define metrics relevant to measure the performance of the team and evangelize with cross-functional teams and management
  • Build productive and positive relationships across the organization at all levels to drive influence
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development to a team of inventory and pricing analysts.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of experience in Yield Management; experience in Revenue Operations, Digital Ad Operations (Ad Ops) or Media Buying is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or related work experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, lead, and mentor a high-performance team
  • A great depth of understanding on the online advertising industry: desktop, mobile (web/in-app), on display, video and search
  • Fluency in the language of digital media and online measurement: impressions, CTR, CPMs, STR, Fill rates, unique users, page views, visits, viewability, demo comps, etc. 
  • Highly proficient in digital ad server technology (e.g., Google Ad Manager), Demand Side Platforms (e.g., AppNexus, DV360), SaaS platforms and data measurement
  • Highly organized, exceptional attention to detail and follow through
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of campaign lifecycle management, media planning, ad sales process, trafficking, QA, performance analytics/ reporting
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and often lack of clarity
  • Strong business communication skills, both written and verbal; with ability to communicate / present to Sales teams and at the leadership level

Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related field
