We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to help us design and improve customer membership experience through personalization to drive acquisition, growth, and retention. We are just getting started on personalizing membership experience across ecommerce and this is a very critical role to shape the face of Walmart Membership.

We are hiring a Director of Data Science.

You’ll make an impact by:

• Building and leading a team of data scientists to help increase membership growth and drive the design, development, testing, and deployment of predictive machine learning models, tools, and platform.
• Pushing the boundaries of machine intelligence combining cutting-edge AI and ML techniques to make building and management of scenarios substantially simpler.
• Finding new, intuitive, and engaging ways to interact with our customers.
• Leading the art and science of Data modelling at an unsurpassed scale with the largest retailer on the planet.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as product, engineering, and business.

You’ll sweep us off your feet if….

• You have a PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or equivalent)
• You have 5+ years’ experience in a ML or Data Scientist role with a large technology company
• You have 5 - 10+ years of experience managing Machine Learning Scientists, Data Scientists, Research Scientists, and Applied Scientists
• You have knowledge of ML platforms such as TensorFlow, Glue, Athena, SageMaker
• You have experience in big data, distributed systems, computing tools like S3, Hive, MapReduce, and Spark and building Recommender Systems
• You have experience with statistical analysis, research science, machine learning and deep learning techniques, data modeling, and regression modeling.
• You have an ability to develop practical solutions to complex problems informed by the state of the art and with limited guidance
• You can distill informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives.
• You have experience in shipping products and learning from real customer feedback.
• You have hands-on experience with computation and data analysis tools such as R, Python, and HIVE
• You can manage and quantify improvement in data quality on Deep Learning model performance from research outcomes.
• You have experience in writing research papers, includes the methodologies and results for data science projects
• You have prepared and given periodic business and technical reviews to senior management
• You have proven achievements of developing and managing a long-term research vision and portfolio of research initiatives, with algorithms and models that have been successfully integrated in production systems.
• You have a proven track record hiring and leading experienced scientists as well as a successful record of developing junior members to a successful career track
