What you'll do...

As the Data Science leader on the Health & Wellness Technology team, you will lead a team of data scientists, including directors and line management. Our ideal candidate is a sharp, thoughtful, and collaborative problem solver and people leader who can work closely with business leadership to identify key challenges, then lead research and development of complex, cutting edge, and scalable algorithms, and make them successful in production.

 
This is a full-time position and will report to the Vice President of Health & Wellness Technology.

You are equally strong at getting into the weeds and making sure that the data needed to support these metrics is consistent and available. You are very comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed for quick prototyping and helping your team optimize their work. 
  • Talent leadership – Rich experience around building world class data science teams focused on solving the right and the most important problems with a focus on impact. You have a demonstrated track records of attracting top data/analytics talent, developing high performing teams, and keeping top talent engaged and challenged. 
  • Healthcare domain knowledge – You are knowledgeable about and experienced with the types of data seen in a clinical environment, including transactional and unstructured data.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop/coach/mentor a team of data scientists and junior leaders
  • Partner with clinical, product, finance, and engineering organizations to drive outcomes
  • Proactively guide research and development to support long-term business strategy 
  • Drive the development of analytic and predictive models to support decision making 
  • Design and execute experiments to achieve business objectives and drive optimization
  • Partner with engineers to ensure data quality and take models to production

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Option 1 - Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 7 years' experience in a data science related field. OR 
  • Option 2 - Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in a data science related field. OR 
  • Option 3 - 9 years' experience in a data science related field. 

AND 

  • 3 years' supervisory experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading data-driven projects from definition to execution to drive business results
  • The ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and results to technical and business audiences in a comprehensive manner 
  • Direct experience working with large datasets
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (R, Python) 
  • Proficiency in machine learning algorithms such as multi-class classifications, decision trees, support vector machines and deep learning 
  • Experience in building and leading teams that design and build scalable ML models
  • 4-6 years of Supervisory experience 
  • 7-10 years of Data science, machine learning, optimization models
  • 7-10 years experience using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch) 
  • PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics
