As a Data Scientist- Assurance Analyst for Secure Systems Engineering Services, you will lead and support moderate to highly complex data science and analytics projects to identify, analyze, and prioritize malicious activities and threat vectors as observed within Operational Technologies, digital software assurance, supply chains, technology development, and nuclear weapons production activities. As an analyst, you will effectively communicate formal assessments to decision-makers and stakeholders to drive effective risk management measures. Job functions include building analytical products while leveraging existing open-source and commercial tools and environments to collect and analyze data for correlation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Digital Assurance- NEA Operational Technology Assurance (OTA) risk analysis.
  • Weapons Production Integration- Technology risk protection and technical evaluations for weapons design and development processes.
  • Secure Operations- Encompassing technical mitigation activities and vulnerability assessments for weapons products/components.
  • Evaluations- Analyze current active cyber threats and vulnerability vectors within the active infrastructure. (software vendor evaluation, code evaluations, software application, verification methods)
  • Integration- Develop cyber analysis integration tools and processes for Digital Assurance, OT, technology development, supply chain/strategic sourcing, and external partners.
  • Work with cyber security and IT for collaboration points, strategic initiatives, and programs related to cyber security.
  • Strategic cyber analysis- Producing analytical products for informing strategic threats, vulnerabilities, and technology applications.
  • Metrics & data integration- providing dashboard analysis and synthesizing data for decision-makers and key stakeholders in cyber Initiatives.
  • Tool Development- Inform and advise for developing cyber analysis tools and applications for utilization within the program. (gap analysis for existing process, improvements, emerging capabilities) 
  • Process Development- Develop and deploy guidelines, processes, workflows, and standards for department data analytics.
  • Provide analysis and research on threat vectors related to product assurance, supply chain, cyber, technologies, and vulnerabilities.
  • Prepare assessments of current events based on the sophisticated collection, research, and analysis of open-source information.
  • Coordinate with internal partners, the intelligence community, and industry partners for in-depth analytical processes and products.
  • Develop and maintain analytical procedures to meet changing requirements.
  • Collect data using a combination of standard analytical methods and business processes.
  • Conduct formal and informal briefings, complex written products, decision papers, and leading stakeholder discussions.
  • May act as a direct customer interface on assigned projects.

You Must Have:

  • BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, a Master's degree in data science or a related field, or two years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in data science or related technical activities. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Energy Q-Level Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.

  • Demonstrated experience in serving as a technical lead of moderately complex projects.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, proficiency with computer software applications, and the ability to produce and consume written documentation.
  • 5+ years of experience as a data scientist, research specialist, intelligence analyst (IC, military, or cleared defense contractor), or a combination of these. In-depth knowledge of data correlation, research, analysis, writing, and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
  • Demonstrated advanced level experience and competence using scripting and querying languages, such as Python, R, SQL, and other related scripting and querying languages.
  • Prior project management experience is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of research and analysis collection cycles.
