Boeing Global Service (BGS) is seeking an Experienced Data Scientist to perform complex analysis of data created as part of the C-17 Delegation of Engineering Authority (DEA) program. The candidate will work with the Systems, Airworthiness and Digital Engineering (SADE) and C-17 Field Engineering teams to transform complex data from several disparate sources into simple deliverables that improve efficiency, increase productivity, and provide management with data-driven insights. The candidate will be at the forefront of developing and maturing digital tools and analytics capabilities within the group and global C-17 Field Engineering team.

The candidate will have working knowledge in fields such as machine learning techniques, advanced statistics, data engineering, and experience with the development of end-to-end analytics solutions.

They will be responsible for individual projects wherein they determine, define, and deploy data analytics to meet business objectives, investigate and apply best fit methods and algorithms, validate results, and perform necessary data preparation and enhancements to models. This candidate will be expected to perform with general autonomy to solve problems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and sustainment of analytics and digital tools for the Engineering Data Repository System (EDARS) application
  • Modifies and analyzes complex data sets using analytics techniques such as machine learning, statistical analysis, mathematical optimization and simulation
  • Prepares data for analysis, e.g. cleansing, conditioning, transforming, handling missing fields, identifying new feature variables and handling multi-variate data
  • Identifies modeling attributes and parameters and uses them in algorithms to create descriptive, predictive and/or prescriptive models
  • Supports the SADE team with the preparation and execution of visualizations, reports, dashboards and models for customer contract report deliverables
  • In support of EDARS and other digital tools, the candidate must be able to create visualizations and reports, algorithms, models, dashboard, and tool documentation and training requirements
  • Interaction with Information Technology partners and the DEA program team to coordinate data systems for the continued sustainment and development of digital tools
  • Drive efforts to support C-17 DEA engineers and functional system managers to lead, drive and ensure that processes and data systems contain key engineering attributes that enable efficient data trending and performance reporting

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Education):

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience with relational database concepts and the SQL language
  • 3 or more years of experience with Python or R
  • 1 or more years of experience using advanced data visualization software, such as Tableau and Microsoft PowerBI
  • 1 or more years of experience leading teams in executing moderate-to-complex analytical solution projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working in an aircraft engineering support environment
  • Knowledge of C-17 Field Engineering systems and processes
  • Experience working with an airworthiness non-conformance data system such as GOLDesp, VECTOR, or AutoTAR
