We are looking for a Mid-Level Product Data Management Specialist (m/f/d)

The Boeing Global Services’, Aviation Technical and Regulatory Standards organization is seeking an expert who engages in regulatory activities related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in aviation.

The successful candidate builds and maintains contacts to main regulators and the industry standards organizations to shape future legislation to the benefit of Boeing’s customers and to expand new business opportunities. Acts as a point-of-contact for consistent communication of Boeing Digital Aviation Solutions (BDAS) to and from various academic, legislative, governmental and professional trade organizations. Coordinates with a diverse team of internal stakeholders to ensure AI/ML are applied in accordance with established and future regulatory rules and procedures.

The candidate is able to transpose complex technical topics to highly skilled teams having expertise in different topics. The candidate is engaging with diverse internal, international teams and acts as internal consultant to ensure regulatory compliance related to AI and ML topics.

This is a hybrid position that allows telecommuting. However, the selected candidate will be required to regularly perform work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position responsibilities:

  • Engaging in the development of new industry standards pertaining to AI/ML that may affect our products. Includes virtual participation in workgroups as well as traveling.
  • Works with government and regulatory agencies and industry groups to address technical issues related to Boeing’s Digital Aviation Solutions’ products & services.
  • Assists internal departments & external suppliers or governments & customers in the analysis & resolution of potential AI/ML related problems that require an immediate attention.
  • Define and document requirements for new products and services for the Data Services and software development organization in particular, but also engage in other portfolios as required.
  • Oversees and responds to technical inquiries, customer and regulator comments.
  • Advising product managers and software development organizations of potential compliance issues and collaborating on their clearance; including products related to regulatory compliance of features and functions and advising stakeholders of upcoming changes to existing regulations.
  • Works closely with other stakeholders in Digital Aviation Services, Flight Deck Solutions, the larger Boeing organization as well as technology organizations to determine the impact of new regulations and help developing related strategies for products and services.
  • Delivering a service that meets the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Involving others and sharing information in a team environment.
  • Ensuring departmental and company-wide quality standards are met. Applies technical knowledge and good business acumen.
  • Maintaining work behaviors that reflect initiative, reliability, consistency, accuracy, thoroughness and pride in workmanship.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in and ability of working with a diverse, international team located at different locations, countries, time zones, cultural background.
  • Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Self-motivated. Able to effectively work with general directions.
  • Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers.
  • Experience in working with regulators desired.
  • Experience in working with external workgroups and developing of industry standards desired.

Understanding of aviation and/or aviation technology desired

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical areas related to AI/ML or a combination of related training, proficiency and experience.
